Great BBQ, Wine List Phoning It In

Wingman Metrics
Walk into Puckett's Murfreesboro and the vibe hits immediately — live music, smoky BBQ air, and a crowd that's clearly here for the food and not the Cabernet. The wine list feels like an afterthought tucked behind a beer menu that's doing all the heavy lifting. That's not necessarily a sin, but it does set expectations.
The list leans hard on California with a nod to Tennessee via the A. Marshall Family Wines partnership, which is honestly the most interesting thing happening here. Beyond that local angle, you're looking at a short, crowd-pleasing lineup of maybe 15 to 25 bottles — the kind of list that covers Cab, Chardonnay, and a Merlot and calls it a day. No real depth in Old World, no adventurous picks, and no obvious curation beyond 'wine people recognize.' The A. Marshall connection gives it a regional story worth telling, but the rest of the list doesn't back it up.
Somewhere between 8 and 12 pours by the glass, which is actually a reasonable number for a Southern roadhouse. Happy hour drops A. Marshall pours to $7 a glass and knocks $2 off everything else, which is the friendliest thing on the entire wine program. Outside of happy hour, the BTG rotation doesn't appear to change much.
A. Marshall Family Wines (by the glass) — $7
During happy hour, this Tennessee-connected California label is a genuinely solid pour at a price that won't make you wince. It's the right call at the right moment.
A. Marshall Family Wines
Most people at Puckett's are ordering beer — which means the A. Marshall pour is flying under the radar. It's the only wine on the list with an actual story behind it, and it deserves more attention than it gets in a room full of Bud Light.
Generic California Cabernet Sauvignon
The non-A. Marshall California reds on this list are filling seats, not earning them. Without the happy hour discount, you're paying full restaurant markup for bottles you could grab off a grocery store shelf without blinking.
A. Marshall Family Wines + Slow-smoked pulled pork plate
A fruit-forward California red softens the smokiness of the pulled pork without fighting it. It's not a complicated pairing — it just works, and at happy hour pricing, it's one of the better deals in Downtown Murfreesboro.
❌ The Bottom Line
Puckett's is a great night out for live music and serious BBQ — but the wine list is here because it has to be, not because anyone really wanted it. Stick to the A. Marshall pours during happy hour and let the food do the talking.

Wasabi is a fun spot for teppanyaki and sushi, but the wine list is an afterthought dressed up as a menu section. Order the plum wine, enjoy the hibachi show, and save the serious bottle for somewhere else.

Blackhorse is a genuinely good brewpub, and you should absolutely order a pint. The wine list, though, is purely functional — it exists so the person at the table who doesn't drink beer has something to order, and it doesn't pretend to be anything more than that.

Logan's Roadhouse in Murfreesboro isn't trying to impress you with wine, and it succeeds. Save your wine budget for somewhere that's actually spending a moment thinking about it — here, order the whiskey.

O'Charley's isn't where you come for a wine experience, but if you're here for the food and want a fair pour at a fair price, the list delivers exactly that. Send a friend here for the Wednesday half-price wine night and keep expectations calibrated.

Toot's is a wings-and-beer operation with three anonymous California wines tacked on as an afterthought. Order the beer, order the sangria pitcher, and save the wine conversation for somewhere else.
