You open the menu at a McMinnville pizza spot and expect a handful of grocery-store Chiantis and maybe a local Pinot thrown in for Oregon cred. What you get instead is a 43-label list that spans Franciacorta, Grechetto, Falanghina, and Willamette Valley bubbles — and suddenly the pizza feels like an excuse to drink well. The range here is genuinely surprising for the format.
The list is split between Italian and Oregon producers with real intentionality: this isn't Italy-adjacent window dressing or local-wine tokenism. On the Italian side, you're seeing Ca' Del Baio Barbera 'Paolina', Felsina's 'I Sistri' Chardonnay, and the Iacapo Paolucci Grechetto 'Iacapone' — not names you stumble across at the average wine bar, let alone a pizzeria. Oregon holds its own with Bergström 'Old Stones' Chardonnay, Lange Estate Reserve Pinot Gris, and a Domaine Divio 'Les Climats' Chardonnay that reads like someone here has strong opinions about white Burgundy. The bubbles section alone — with Ronco Calino Franciacorta, Corollary 'Cuvée One' Extra Brut, Lundeen Blanc de Noirs, and Nicola Gatta 'Quattrocento' — could anchor a dedicated wine bar. The main gap is depth on the red side beyond a few strong picks; the list leans white and sparkling, which, honestly, tracks for pizza.
Nine pours by the glass at $9–$16 is a solid program — what matters is that the picks are genuinely interesting. The Elena Walch Schiava at $16/glass is an unusual, lighter-bodied red that most restaurants wouldn't bother with, and the Decugnano dei Barbi Casa Pica Bianco at $9 is a bargain entry point into the Italian white section. The glass list rotates a fair representation of the bottle list rather than defaulting to filler pours.
The Bottom Line
Pizza Capo has no business having a wine list this thoughtful, and that's exactly why it works. The pricing is fair across the board, the Italian and Oregon selections show genuine curation, and the bubbles section alone justifies a visit. If you're eating pizza in wine country and not ordering something interesting here, that's on you.
