Pizza-first, wine-second, and that's fine

Wingman Metrics
The wine list here is exactly what you'd expect walking into a casual Italian spot near Butler Plaza — familiar names, nothing that requires homework. It's not trying to be a wine destination, and it doesn't pretend to be. Flip to the wine page and you've seen it all before.
California dominates, with the usual suspects — Josh Cellars, Caymus, La Crema, Sterling — doing most of the heavy lifting. Italy gets a nod via Banfi Chianti, which at least shows some geographic self-awareness for a pizza-and-pasta concept. New Zealand checks in with White Haven Sauvignon Blanc and Washington State with Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling, rounding out a tight but predictable roster of about 17 labels. There are no deep cuts, no grower producers, no surprises — but the breadth of regions is enough to give the table options without anyone feeling lost.
With roughly 15 by-the-glass options across two pour sizes, this is actually a solid setup for a casual chain — most tables won't even need to go to a bottle. The range spans reds, whites, and presumably a rosé, which means a group split between pizza and pasta can each find something workable. The 6oz pour entry point around $7.50 keeps the risk low if you want to try something before committing.
White Haven Sauvignon Blanc — $8
A legitimately good Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc at the low end of the glass pour range. Bright, citrus-forward, and cuts through cheese and tomato sauce without fighting it. At this price, it overdelivers for what the list is.
Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling
Most people skip Riesling at a pizza place without thinking twice, which is a mistake. CSM's Columbia Valley Riesling is off-dry, food-friendly, and handles spicy toppings or a sweet tomato base better than any of the Cabs on this list. It's the underdog pick that earns its place.
Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
At the top of the price range here, Caymus is the safe flex order — but at a casual pizza chain, you're paying a significant premium for a bottle that's been on every suburban restaurant list for a decade. The food doesn't need it, and your wallet doesn't either.
Banfi Chianti + Stone-fired pizza
Chianti and pizza is almost embarrassingly obvious, but Banfi's version is clean, has enough acidity to match tomato sauce, and the Sangiovese fruit stands up to char from the stone-fired oven. It's the right call on this list for this menu.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Piesanos Archer Road is a reliable neighborhood spot where the wine list does its job without drawing any attention to itself — and honestly, that's enough. Come for the pizza, drink something approachable, and don't overthink it.

Piesanos isn't a wine destination, but it's not trying to be — it's a reliable neighborhood pizza spot with enough glass pour variety to keep a mixed table happy without anyone feeling stuck. Skip the Caymus, lean into the Chianti, and call it a win.

Piesanos is a reliable pizza spot, but the wine list is phoning it in — safe labels, steep markups on the recognizable names, and zero rotation. Order the Chianti, enjoy the pizza, and keep your expectations grounded.
