Chain Wine Done Better Than It Should Be

Wingman Metrics
The wine list here is exactly what you'd expect from a national chain — and then just slightly more. It's not trying to impress anyone who's spent time in a wine shop, but the hits are recognizable, the by-the-glass count is generous, and nothing looks like it was chosen at random.
Twenty-seven labels sounds modest, and it is, but the list leans hard into California with names like Rombauer, The Prisoner, Stags' Leap, and Caymus-Suisun — all crowd-pleasers that move fast in a suburban chain setting. There's a New Zealand nod with Cloudy Bay, an Italian token in Santa Margherita, and Whispering Angel to cover the rosé crowd. What's missing is any real texture: no Oregon Pinot, no Spanish options, nothing that asks anything of the diner. It's a greatest-hits compilation where all the songs are from the same decade.
The by-the-glass program runs 10 to 14 options depending on the menu cycle, which is actually solid range for a chain at this price point. You're not getting anything that'll surprise you — Sonoma-Cutrer Chardonnay and Decoy Sauvignon Blanc are reliable anchors — but you can build a decent meal around the pours without committing to a bottle.
Decoy by Duckhorn Sauvignon Blanc — null
Duckhorn's entry-level label punches above what you'd expect in a chain setting. Clean, fruit-forward, and versatile enough to run alongside half the menu — and likely one of the more fairly priced glass pours on the list.
Caymus-Suisun 'The Walking Fool' Red Blend
Most people at this table are ordering Rombauer or The Prisoner on autopilot. The Walking Fool is the Caymus family's Suisun Valley project — less hyped, same pedigree, and worth the detour if you want something with a little more structure than the usual big California fruit-bomb.
Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio
A $20+ retail bottle that'll cost you significantly more here, and it's just not interesting enough to justify the markup at a pan-Asian restaurant where bold flavors are the whole point. There are better glass pours on this list.
Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc + Dynamite Shrimp
Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and anything spicy-fried is a reliable formula — the high acid and citrus-driven profile cut through the richness and hold up to the heat without getting lost.
✔️ The Bottom Line
P.F. Chang's wine list won't win any awards, but it's doing exactly what it needs to do for a busy suburban dinner crowd. Don't come here for a wine experience — but don't write it off either, especially if you know what to order.
Craig Ranch / SH 121 · McKinney · American / Brewhouse
BJ's McKinney is a beer destination with a wine list that exists mostly as a formality — the Wednesday half-price deal is the only reason to engage with it seriously. Come for the craft beer and the Pazookie; the wine is just along for the ride.

SH 121 Corridor · McKinney · Steakhouse / American
Saltgrass McKinney is a reliable spot for a Texas-style steak, but the wine list is clearly not why anyone is driving out here. Unless you're sticking to the J. Lohr Pinot or talking someone into splitting the Hampton Water, you're better off ordering a cocktail and calling it a night.

Craig Ranch / SH 121 · McKinney · Tex-Mex / Mexican
Blue Goose is a perfectly fun Tex-Mex night out — just don't come here for the wine. Order a margarita, eat the tamales, and save your wine curiosity for somewhere that returns the favor.

West McKinney / Custer Area · McKinney · New York-style pizzeria
Durkin's is a legitimately good pizza spot that happens to have a wine list in the same way a convenience store has a wine list — it's there, it's functional, and nobody's proud of it. Come for the pies, order the beer, and if you must have wine, go Louis Martini and don't overthink it.

Adriatica Village · McKinney · Seafood & American
Harry's is a reliable neighborhood anchor for McKinney — the kind of place you bring out-of-town family without stressing about it. The wine list won't blow anyone's mind, but it won't embarrass you either; just steer clear of the grocery-store staples and lean toward the upper end of the bottle list.

The Yard is a patio-and-games spot first, wine bar never — and the list is honest about that. Come for the atmosphere, order the Murphy Goode if you want wine, and save the serious bottle for somewhere else.
