You're on a rooftop in the middle of Oregon wine country, looking out over McMinnville, and the wine list is... McMenamins house labels on tap. It's a lot to process. But at $8–$11 a glass with a 360-degree view, this place earns its keep in a way the wine list alone never could.
The entire list is McMenamins' own portfolio — think branded house wines rather than a curated selection of Willamette Valley heavy hitters. You've got a Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Syrah, a rosé (Umbrella Jimmy), a sparkling Blanc de Noirs, plus the Black Rabbit Red and White Rabbit blends for anyone who just wants something approachable and easy. Regional depth is nonexistent — no Eyrie, no Adelsheim, no A to Z even — but that's not the point here. This is a casual tap wine situation designed for accessibility, not discovery.
Everything is by the glass — that's the whole program. With 8–10 wines on tap in the $8–$11 range, the pour price is genuinely reasonable for a tourist-facing rooftop in wine country. No rotation, no reserve pours, no surprises — what you see is what you get, every night.
Blanc de Noirs Sparkling Wine — $11
Sparkling wine at $11 a glass on a rooftop at sunset is a deal you don't overthink. It's a crowd-pleasing pour in the right setting, and the setting does a lot of the heavy lifting.
Syrah
Nobody comes to the Willamette Valley thinking Syrah, and most people at this bar will default to the Pinot. That's their loss. The McMenamins Syrah is the dark horse on this list — worth a pour just to see what the Pacific Northwest does with the grape outside its Pinot comfort zone.
Black Rabbit Red
A blended red with a fun name designed to be inoffensive — and it succeeds at being exactly that. If you're on a rooftop in one of America's most celebrated wine regions, you can do better than a house red blend built for maximum approachability.
Umbrella Jimmy Rosé + Pub snack appetizers
Light, casual, outdoors — a rosé on tap against a plate of bar snacks at sunset is the entire thesis of this rooftop. Stop overthinking it.
The Bottom Line
The Hotel Oregon Rooftop Bar isn't a wine destination — it's a view destination with wine on tap, and at these prices in this setting, that's completely fine. Come for the McMinnville skyline, order the sparkling, and save the serious Willamette Pinot hunting for tomorrow.
