Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Mahoney's is exactly what you'd expect from a lively Irish pub near a commuter rail stop — nine bottles, all familiar labels, nothing that's going to make you put down your Guinness. It's not trying to be a wine bar, and that's fine. At $12–$13 a glass across the board, at least the pricing is honest.
All nine labels cover the greatest hits of approachable wine retail: Mark West Pinot Noir, Bogle Merlot, Clos Du Bois Chardonnay, Nobilo Sauvignon Blanc. They've at least spread the net geographically — California, Italy, Argentina, New Zealand, Germany, France — even if the producers lean heavily on grocery-store recognition over regional character. There's a Terrazas de Los Andes Malbec for the steak crowd and a Marius Chapoutier Rosé that's a small step above the usual. Don't come here chasing anything obscure — the list exists to serve the room, not to challenge it.
The entire list is by the glass, which is both convenient and telling — this is a bar that wants you ordering by the drink, not committing to a bottle. All nine pours sit at $12–$13, which is genuinely fair for the Hudson Valley restaurant scene. Rotation appears to be nonexistent; what you see is what you get, season after season.
Terrazas de Los Andes Malbec — $13
At $13 a glass, this Argentine Malbec punches well above the price. Terrazas sources fruit from high-altitude Mendoza vineyards and the wine actually has structure and depth — more than you'd expect alongside a plate of shepherd's pie in a Poughkeepsie pub.
Shades of Blue Riesling
Most people at a sports bar will reach for the Cab or Pinot Grigio on autopilot. The Shades of Blue Riesling from Germany gets ignored, which is a shame — it's a food-friendly, off-dry pour that handles the pub's heavier fare better than anything else on the list.
Clos Du Bois Chardonnay
Clos Du Bois Chardonnay is a $10 supermarket bottle in a lot of ZIP codes. Paying $13 a glass for it here isn't highway robbery, but it's the most forgettable pour on the list and there are better options for the same price.
Terrazas de Los Andes Malbec + Ribeye steak
A high-altitude Malbec with dark fruit and firm tannins is a natural match for a char-grilled ribeye. The wine's structure holds up to the fat and the smoke without getting swallowed by either.

Mahoney's wine list is the bar version of a reliable wingman — not flashy, won't embarrass you, gets the job done. If you're grabbing a glass before catching a Metro-North train or settling in for a steak, it works. Just don't show up expecting anything to write home about.

Olive Garden's wine list is exactly what you'd expect from a national chain that considers breadsticks the main event — functional, safe, and completely unambitious. Come for the pasta, drink the Chianti Classico, and don't expect anything more.

Heritage punches well above its strip-mall expectations with a lean but genuinely thoughtful wine list that sneaks in orange wine, old-vine Verdejo, and Loire Chenin between the Prosecco and the GunBun Cab. If you're in the Hudson Valley and want a low-risk way to drink something interesting by the glass without a big commitment, this list earns the stop.
