Wingman Metrics
Twenty-two labels is a tight list, but Kurt's earns its keep by ignoring the obvious and leaning hard into Alsace — which is either a bold editorial statement or a very happy accident. Either way, you don't expect to find three Trimbachs and a Dom Specht Pinot Noir in a suburban Duluth bistro, and that alone makes this worth a second look.
The white wine section is where Kurt's really shows its hand: Trimbach Pinot Blanc, Trimbach Pinot Grigio, and Trimbach Riesling anchor the list alongside a Selbach Riesling from the Mosel and a Chateau Ste Michelle Gewürztraminer, giving you a legitimately interesting tour of aromatic whites that most Atlanta restaurants wouldn't even attempt. The red side is more conventional — Avalon Cab, Trivento Malbec, CK Mondavi Merlot — though the Dom Specht Pinot Noir from Alsace and the Terra d'Oro Zinfandel from Amador County add some welcome character. The DAOU Pessimist rounds out the reds as a recognizable crowd-pleaser. Two Dow's Tawny Ports by the glass (10-year and 20-year) at the close of the list is a genuinely nice touch for a bistro at this price point.
Here's the standout move: every bottle on the list is also available by the glass, making this a by-the-glass paradise for a 22-label program. Glass prices run $8 to $19, which is honest for the Duluth market, and the two Port options add a dessert-wine dimension that most casual spots skip entirely.
The Bottom Line
Kurt's Euro Bistro punches above its weight in the Duluth dining scene — not because the list is long, but because someone clearly cared enough to put three Trimbach selections and two Dow's Tawny Ports on a 22-bottle card. The Alsace focus gives it a genuine identity, and fair bottle pricing means you won't feel punished for ordering well. If you're in the area and want an honest glass of European white with your coq au vin, this is your spot.

· Duluth · Brewpub
Lake Superior Brewing has no business having a wine list this interesting, and we mean that as a full compliment. If you're in Duluth and you want to drink wine somewhere that actually thought about it, this brewpub is the surprising answer.

· Duluth · Cocktail Bar
This is a cocktail bar that slipped a legitimately interesting nine-bottle wine list into the corner without making a big deal about it — and we respect the quiet confidence. Don't come here for a deep cellar experience, but do come here knowing you have real options beyond the well liquor.

Va Bene is presumably doing something right in the kitchen, but the wine list is a two-item afterthought that tells you this place doesn't take wine seriously. Order a glass, enjoy your pasta, and don't expect anything more.

Midi is doing more with 38 labels than most hotel restaurants do with 80. The aromatic white selection alone makes it worth a serious look, and the pricing won't leave you feeling robbed on the way out.

Downtown · Duluth · Italian-American and Pizza
Sammy's is a Duluth institution and the pizza earns its reputation — the wine list is just not the point, and the restaurant isn't pretending otherwise. Order a beer or grab the cheapest glass pour, eat the pizza, and be happy.

Canal Park · Duluth · American, Bar, Pizza
Old Chicago Duluth isn't a wine destination and doesn't pretend to be — it's a reliable fallback for the table member who wants a glass of something decent while everyone else works through the tap list. If you stick to the Ste. Michelle Riesling, you'll leave satisfied; just don't come here expecting anything that will make you put down your pizza.

· Alpharetta · French/European
OneDayinParis is doing something uncommon in the suburbs: saying no to everything that doesn't belong. A four-wine list sounds like a limitation, but when the four wines are Sancerre, Premier Cru Chablis, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and Champagne at reasonable prices, it reads more like confidence. If you want range, look elsewhere — if you want a focused, well-chosen French glass with your dinner, this is a genuine find in Alpharetta.

· Milton · French/European
L'Antoinette is doing something genuinely surprising in Milton — a Bordeaux-focused wine list with real producers, fair bottle prices, and enough by-the-glass options to make a solo diner feel taken care of. We'd send a friend here specifically for the wine, and that's not something we say about many suburban French spots.

F & B earns its keep as a reliable by-the-glass destination — 46 pours by the glass is a legitimately useful feature, and there are smart picks buried in a list that otherwise feels like it was curated for people who only want to order what they already know. Markups run steep, especially at the top end, and the French restaurant identity isn't really reflected in the wine list. If you're eating here, go for the Chablis or the Scharffenberger, skip the Bordeaux splurge, and enjoy the flexibility.
