Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Howell's Kitchen and Bar leads with one genuinely clever move: every single bottle on the list is also available by the glass. That's 21 options poured by the glass, which is rare and worth applauding. The selections themselves are recognizable without being inspired — this is a list built for accessibility, not adventure.
Howell's covers the basics with reasonable geographic spread: Willamette Pinot Noir, Rías Baixas Albariño, Rioja Tempranillo, Mendoza Malbec, Veneto Valpolicella, and Columbia Valley Cabernet all make appearances. The white side leans Chardonnay-heavy with three options (Harken, Joel Gott, and a Mâcon-Lugny from Cave de Lugney), which is two more than most gastropubs bother with. What's missing is depth — no Côtes du Rhône, no skin-contact anything, no Beaujolais, no domestic Zinfandel — the list stays squarely in crowd-pleaser territory without pushing anyone's comfort zone. Bubbles get three options, including a Prince de Richemontt Brut Crémant de Loire that arrives at $20 a bottle and is the clearest outlier on the list in the best way.
The by-the-glass program is genuinely the headline here — 21 pours from $6 to $16 means you can work your way across the entire list in a single visit if you're ambitious. The range covers sparkling, white, and red without a rosé in sight, which feels like a gap. Glass prices are fair relative to bottle prices on the lower end, but the bottle prices themselves are marked up steeply enough that "fair by glass" math still stings a bit.
The Bottom Line
Howell's Kitchen and Bar won't win any awards for curation, but the full by-the-glass program is a genuine differentiator in Atlanta's gastropub scene — and the Prince de Richemontt Crémant at $20 a bottle is the kind of pricing that earns repeat visits. If you want discovery and depth, look elsewhere; if you want a solid, approachable pour in a low-stakes environment with no bad surprises, Howell's delivers.

Zephyr's wine list is punching above its weight class for a 21-bottle program — the sparkling selection is genuinely impressive, and the white wine choices show a curator who's done their homework. No pricing data means we can't vouch for value, and the red wine depth is thin, but if you let the list guide you toward something like the Massican Pinot Grigio or the Telmont Champagne, you're in good hands. Worth a look if you're in Atlanta and want something more intentional than the standard brasserie pour.

Park 75's wine list is a one-trick pony, but it's a very good trick — if you're here for dessert or a post-dinner digestif, the fortified and sweet wine selection punches above its weight. Don't bring someone who needs a Chardonnay with dinner, but absolutely bring someone who appreciates a 40-year Tawny or wants to try a Banyuls for the first time.

Buckhead · Atlanta · Italian
Amalfi's wine list is functional, Italy-adjacent, and markedly overpriced relative to what's in the glass — that $51 floor on bottles is doing a lot of heavy lifting for producers that retail well below that. The 29 by-the-glass options are genuinely useful for a group with mixed tastes, and a few smart picks (the Brancaia Tre, the Ferrari Brut) keep this from being a total write-off. Send a friend here for dinner without hesitation, but tell them to order the Brancaia and skip the Pinot Grigio upcharge.

Necessary Purveyor earns points for the food — the mile-high mortadella sandwich alone is worth the trip — but the wine program hasn't quite caught up to the ambition of the dinner service. If you're going for lunch, don't sweat the wine list at all. If you're coming for dinner and wine matters to you, call ahead and ask what's pouring; you deserve to know before you sit down.

Trattoria Lucia isn't trying to be a wine destination, but it's also not treating wine as an afterthought — and in a neighborhood spot operating at this price point, that distinction matters. The Italian-only regional focus gives it credibility. We'd want verified glass prices and a confirmed pour list before making stronger recommendations, but as a neighborhood go-to for cacio e pepe and a glass of something Sicilian, Lucia earns the visit.

Buckhead · Atlanta · Other
Beso Buckhead is a wine list that punches a little above its size, mostly because whoever built it had the sense to include the Txakoli and lean toward lesser-known producers alongside the crowd pleasers. Markups in the Champagne section are hard to defend, but the by-the-glass program is wide enough that you can drink well without getting gouged. If you're here for a fun glass of something unexpected, the Txakoli is your move.

Altona earns its reputation on the burger side — the Spicy Red and the Lucia both show up consistently in guest praise, and the patio sounds genuinely lovely. But if wine is any part of your plan for the evening, this is not the destination. Order a craft beer, enjoy the terrace, and save your wine curiosity for somewhere that returns the interest.

Ate Track is a bar first, and the wine list makes that abundantly clear. Eight labels with no pricing transparency and no visible effort to curate anything beyond the basics isn't a wine program — it's a liability hedge. If you're here for the bar scene, great. If you care about wine, order a cocktail and revisit the question.

Top Dawg Tavern is almost certainly a fine place for a beer and a burger — but the wine list is an afterthought dressed up as a menu section. With no pricing transparency, no interesting producers, and a roster pulled straight from the grocery store middle shelf, there's nothing here to get excited about. Order a craft beer, skip the wine list entirely, and come back when they give it some love.
