Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Amalfi leans hard into the Italian-American restaurant comfort zone — Prosecco up front, Chianti in the middle, and familiar California names filling the gaps. At 42 labels with 29 by-the-glass options, they've clearly invested in breadth, even if the choices skew toward crowd-pleasing crowd-pleasers rather than anything that'll make you stop and look twice.
The Italian representation is real but thin — San Vincente Chianti, Melini Chianti Riserva, the Brancaia Tre Super Tuscan, and a Papale Primitivo cover the basics without digging deeper into Barolo, Brunello, or even Montepulciano territory. The California bench — Decoy Chardonnay, Parducci Cab, Orin Swift Dept. 66 — reads like a mid-tier restaurant distributor's greatest hits. What's genuinely interesting: the Ferrari Brut Trento DOC gives the sparkling section more credibility than a Mionetto-only program would, and the Wolffer Estate rosé is a sharp pick for summer tables. But there are real gaps — no Vermentino, no Verdicchio, no Nebbiolo — that you'd expect from a restaurant waving an Italian flag.
Twenty-nine by-the-glass options is a legitimately impressive number for a restaurant of this scale, and the glass pricing ($13–$18) tracks closely to the bottle pricing in a way that exposes the markup rather than softening it. Wines like the Brancaia Tre Super Tuscan at $15/glass and the Papale Primitivo at $17/glass are the most interesting pours of the bunch — everything else trends toward safe and familiar.
The Bottom Line
Amalfi's wine list is functional, Italy-adjacent, and markedly overpriced relative to what's in the glass — that $51 floor on bottles is doing a lot of heavy lifting for producers that retail well below that. The 29 by-the-glass options are genuinely useful for a group with mixed tastes, and a few smart picks (the Brancaia Tre, the Ferrari Brut) keep this from being a total write-off. Send a friend here for dinner without hesitation, but tell them to order the Brancaia and skip the Pinot Grigio upcharge.

Ponce City Market · Atlanta · Market Restaurant & Sandwich Shop
Necessary Purveyor earns points for the food — the mile-high mortadella sandwich alone is worth the trip — but the wine program hasn't quite caught up to the ambition of the dinner service. If you're going for lunch, don't sweat the wine list at all. If you're coming for dinner and wine matters to you, call ahead and ask what's pouring; you deserve to know before you sit down.

Trattoria Lucia isn't trying to be a wine destination, but it's also not treating wine as an afterthought — and in a neighborhood spot operating at this price point, that distinction matters. The Italian-only regional focus gives it credibility. We'd want verified glass prices and a confirmed pour list before making stronger recommendations, but as a neighborhood go-to for cacio e pepe and a glass of something Sicilian, Lucia earns the visit.

Beso Buckhead is a wine list that punches a little above its size, mostly because whoever built it had the sense to include the Txakoli and lean toward lesser-known producers alongside the crowd pleasers. Markups in the Champagne section are hard to defend, but the by-the-glass program is wide enough that you can drink well without getting gouged. If you're here for a fun glass of something unexpected, the Txakoli is your move.

Spaceman is unambiguously a cocktail bar with a wine list stapled on — and the wine list reflects that priority honestly, if not flatteringly. Markups are steep across the board, the selection is unadventurous, and there's no evidence of anyone on staff who loses sleep over the Riesling selection. Come for the view and the Spaceman Old Fashioned; if you're ordering wine, stick to the Whitehaven and enjoy the skyline.

Habitat's wine list is a shortcut, not a program — thirteen labels, predictable producers, and Champagne markups that feel disconnected from the rest of the dining experience. The Dom J Laurens is a genuinely good find buried in an otherwise unremarkable lineup, but one good pick doesn't make a wine destination. Stick to cocktails unless you're specifically hunting that Crémant.

Spice and Sky's wine list is a low-effort placeholder — familiar brands, steep markups on accessible wines, and no apparent thought given to how wine interacts with an Asian kitchen. If you're here, start with the Bex Riesling for $9 and call it a night. For serious wine drinking, look elsewhere.

Tre Vele is a fun night out — the tableside cacio e pepe alone is worth the trip on a Tuesday. But if wine is your reason for showing up, we'd want a lot more transparency about what's on the list and what it costs before making that call. Come for the pasta, treat the wine list as an afterthought for now, and hope the program gets more attention as the restaurant matures.

Carbonara Trattoria appears to treat wine as an afterthought — four bottles, no documented by-the-glass program, no whites, no bubbles, and a roster that's half California crowd-pleasers at an Italian restaurant. If you're serious about wine, call ahead and ask about their corkage policy. The Uccelliera Brunello is the one bottle here worth your attention, but a list this thin deserves honest skepticism. Order a cocktail or bring your own.

Sam & Rosco's wine list is technically functional — the prices are fair, the pours are available by the glass, and nothing is embarrassing. But nine all-white bottles with zero reds at an Italian restaurant feels less like a curated choice and more like nobody got around to finishing the list. If wine matters to you tonight, order a glass of the Maschio Brut and call it good.
