The wine list at First Mile Kitchen fits on a napkin — eight bottles, all available by the glass, priced between $30 and $36. Credit where it's due: the markup is genuinely reasonable for Wichita. But eight labels is not a wine program, it's a wine afterthought.
The list reads like someone grabbed the house wine section from a restaurant supply catalog and called it done. You've got a Spanish Cava, a Portuguese Vinho Verde Rosé, a German-style Riesling, and a handful of California crowd-pleasers — Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, a reserve red, and a Paso Robles Cab. There's no depth, no producer story, no regional coherence. What you do get is something that covers the basic varietal bases without any real curiosity about what's out there.
Every single bottle on the list is available by the glass, which sounds generous until you realize there are only eight of them. Glass prices run $10 to $12, which tracks with the bottle pricing and won't leave you feeling robbed. Rotation appears nonexistent — this list looks like it hasn't moved in a while.
Perelada Sparkling Cava — $30
At $30 a bottle, this is the lowest price on the list and Spanish Cava punches well above its weight class for bubbles. If you're starting with something celebratory or just want fizz without a $60 Champagne tax, this is the only real play.
Las Lilas Vinho Verde Rosé
Nobody at a New American spot in Wichita is ordering Vinho Verde Rosé, which is exactly why you should. It's light, slightly effervescent, and genuinely interesting compared to everything else on this list. Most people will order the Chardonnay on autopilot and miss it entirely.
Ryder Lightly Oaked Chardonnay
The 'lightly oaked' qualifier is doing a lot of work here. This is a perfectly forgettable California Chardonnay at a price point where you could do better almost anywhere. At $33 a bottle it's not a rip-off, it's just the least interesting choice on an already unambitious list.
Urban Semi Sweet Riesling + Any spiced or herbaceous New American dish on the menu
A touch of residual sugar in the Riesling acts as a buffer against anything with heat, acidity, or bold seasoning. It's the most food-flexible bottle on the list and people consistently underestimate how well a semi-sweet Riesling handles a wide range of flavors.
The Bottom Line
First Mile Kitchen's wine list exists to check a box, not to enhance your meal. The pricing is honest and a few bottles are quietly decent, but if wine is important to your night out, you'll want to eat somewhere with more than eight options.

Prost isn't a wine destination — it's a biergarten that respects its theme enough to put a coherent German wine list on the table. The Thirsty Thursday bottle deal is legitimately good, and if you show up on the right night with the right dish, you'll leave happier than you expected.
