Tuesday Half-Price Saves This Crowd-Pleaser

The Belmont's wine list reads like a greatest-hits compilation of recognizable labels — Meiomi, Veuve, Dom Pérignon — curated more for comfort than curiosity. It fits the room well enough: mid-century modern, lively patio, the kind of place where people are here for the scene as much as the food. Just don't come expecting to discover anything.
About 24-30 labels across California, France, Italy, Argentina, Spain, Washington, New Zealand, and Germany — solid geographic spread on paper, but the picks lean heavily toward crowd-favorite brands rather than anything with a story to tell. You've got Sonoma-Cutrer Russian River Chardonnay and Anciano Tempranillo rubbing elbows with La Perlina Moscato and Urban Riesling, which tells you the list is built to please everyone and challenge no one. The reserve section tops out with a Dom Pérignon at $330, which is genuinely close to retail — a bright spot in an otherwise safely commercial selection. Gaps are real: no meaningful Burgundy depth, no Rhône, no skin-contact anything.
Fourteen to sixteen options by the glass running $10–$17 is a reasonable spread for a neighborhood spot in Wichita. You get rosé in triplicate (Zolo, Seaglass, Hogwash), which feels like overkill, and a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc alongside the California Pomelo for those who want actual zip. Rotation doesn't appear particularly active — this looks like a set-it list with minor seasonal tweaks.
Veuve Clicquot Champagne — $92
At roughly 67% over retail, Veuve here is the least punishing bottle on the list — and on a Tuesday, select bottles go half-price, which could bring this into genuinely good value territory. It's the move if you're celebrating.
Anciano Tempranillo
Spanish Tempranillo almost always gets passed over on lists dominated by California reds, and most diners will reach for the Meiomi or Old Soul out of habit. Don't. Anciano punches well above its price point with proper Old World structure, and it's the most interesting red on this list by a mile.
Cote des Roses Rosé
A pretty bottle, but at $44 on a ~$19 retail wine, you're paying a 131% markup mostly for the Instagram-friendly design. Grab the Zolo Rosé from Argentina instead and spend the difference on a second glass.
Sonoma-Cutrer Russian River Chardonnay + Scallops
Sonoma-Cutrer's Russian River bottling brings enough oak and stone-fruit weight to stand up to seared scallop richness without stomping on the delicate sweetness. It's the obvious call here, and it's obvious for a reason.
Tuesday — Half off select bottles of wine plus 15% off charcuterie every Tuesday. Reserve wines and some premium bottles are excluded from the deal.
✔️ The Bottom Line
The Belmont is a perfectly fine place to drink wine in Wichita — the Tuesday half-price bottle deal legitimately rescues the steep markups and makes it worth a visit. Just arrive with low expectations for discovery and high expectations for a good time.

Prost isn't a wine destination — it's a biergarten that respects its theme enough to put a coherent German wine list on the table. The Thirsty Thursday bottle deal is legitimately good, and if you show up on the right night with the right dish, you'll leave happier than you expected.

Wasabi Hinkaku isn't a wine destination, but it doesn't pretend to be — and the pricing is honest enough to earn some respect. Show up on a Tuesday when the wine chiller special is running and you've got yourself a solid weeknight deal.

BJ's is a beer restaurant with a wine list that exists so people don't feel left out. If you're here for the Pizookie and a cold craft brew, you've made the right call — but if wine is your priority, East Wichita has better options.

We wouldn't send a friend here for the wine — we'd send them to a grocery store if Barefoot is the goal. Order a cocktail, enjoy the Riblets, and accept the wine list for what it is: corporate wallpaper.

LongHorn does exactly what it was built to do with steak; the wine list is purely functional and priced a touch high for what it delivers. Order the cocktail, drink the sangria, or bring a bottle if corkage allows — because the list itself isn't the reason anyone drives to Maize Road.

Oren is the kind of wine list that makes you recalibrate your expectations for a mid-size city. It's not a deep cellar and there's no half-price night to celebrate, but the curation is thoughtful, the markups are mostly honest, and the picks are the kind you'd expect from a much bigger food scene. Worth ordering from the list — not just the cocktail menu.
