Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Crave reads like it was built to complement cocktails rather than lead the room — and that's not entirely a knock. It's clean, approachable, and won't overwhelm anyone who's here primarily for a filet and a good time. What it won't do is surprise you.
New Zealand and California share the stage here, with Oyster Bay pulling double duty on both Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio, and Hess and J Vineyards rounding out the whites. Reds lean into crowd-pleasing California territory — Meiomi Pinot Noir, Justin Cab, Caymus — the kind of list that sells itself without a single explanation from the server. There's nothing wrong with any of these wines, but there's also nothing here you couldn't find at a well-stocked grocery store. Gaps in Old World coverage are wide, and adventurous drinkers will feel the ceiling fast.
Eight to twelve pours are available, spanning a reasonable range from sparkling splits to a premium Caymus Cab Sauv glass pour at $55. The spread covers the bases — bubbles, whites, reds — but rotation appears minimal and the list skews heavily toward the same producers you've seen a hundred times. The $8–$14 entry tier is accessible, but climbing toward the premium pours means paying serious money for wines that are widely available at retail.
Justin Cabernet Sauvignon Paso Robles — $14/glass
At $14 a pour, Justin Cab is the most honest ticket on the red side of this list. It's a well-made, food-friendly wine that holds up to Crave's steaks without asking you to do a lot of thinking. Markup is still steep by the numbers, but relative to what else is on here, this is where your dollar goes furthest.
J Vineyards Pinot Gris
Nobody orders Pinot Gris when Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay are on the same list, which is exactly why you should. J Vineyards makes a consistently textured, slightly richer pour that works better with Crave's richer dishes than the crisp NZ whites most people default to.
Meiomi Pinot Noir
At $13 a glass, you're paying a 359% markup on a wine that retails for under $17 a bottle. Meiomi is fine — sweet, soft, inoffensive — but it's also the definition of a list filler. If you're ordering Pinot Noir, push the server for something better or skip it entirely.
Cakebread Cellars Chardonnay Napa Valley + Seasonal seafood special
Yes, $30 a glass is a commitment, but Cakebread's Napa Chardonnay — all ripe apple, toasty oak, and bright acidity — is genuinely built for rich seafood. If the kitchen is running a butter-forward fish or scallop special, this is the call. It's the one glass pour on this list that actually earns its premium.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Crave is a solid neighborhood restaurant with a wine list that plays it safe and charges accordingly — you won't drink badly here, but you'll pay for the comfort of familiarity. Send a friend if they want a reliable Cab with their steak; don't send them if they're hunting for something interesting.

Ciao Bella isn't going to blow any minds with its wine program, but it's honest, fairly priced, and the Wine Down Wednesday deal on bottles over $40 is legitimately one of the better weekly wine promos in the area. Show up on a Wednesday, order something Italian, and you'll leave happy.

Garrett's wine list is exactly what it needs to be for a casual upscale spot next to a driving range — familiar, drinkable, and mostly harmless. Just go in knowing you're paying for comfort and convenience, not discovery.

Thunder Bay Grille is a reliable dinner out, not a wine destination — the list is built for comfort, not curiosity. If you're in Rockford and want a solid steak with a recognizable glass of red, you won't leave unhappy, but don't expect any revelations.

Giovanni's is the wine list equivalent of finding a great record collection in your uncle's basement — unexpected, occasionally overpriced, but with enough genuinely special bottles that you have to respect the effort. If you're in Rockford and care about what's in your glass, this is where you go.

SALT. is doing something genuinely surprising for its market — a tight, Old World-leaning wine list in a cocktail bar where most places would just slap on a Meiomi and call it a day. If you're in Rockford and you care about what's in your glass, this is your spot.

Hope & Anchor isn't a wine destination and it's not trying to be — but the prices are fair, the glass program covers all nine bottles, and there's a Riesling hiding in there for the curious. Come for the pint, stay for the shepherd's pie, and don't overthink the wine list.
