The wine list here is exactly what you'd expect at a lively seafood shack with Caribbean flair — short, familiar, and built for easy decisions. There's no pretension, no deep cuts, just a handful of crowd-pleasing bottles priced to move. It won't challenge you, but it won't embarrass you either.
Fifteen to twenty labels covering California, New Zealand, Germany, Australia, and a couple of French and Portuguese outliers — it's a greatest-hits compilation rather than a curated collection. You've got your Franciscan Cab, your William Hill Chard, your Stoneleigh Sauv Blanc — solid, recognizable producers that don't need explaining to the table. The surprise is the Heinz Eifel Riesling, which is an actually smart call for a seafood-heavy menu, and the Cockburn's Port pours are a nice little capper that most casual spots skip entirely. What's missing: anything remotely adventurous, no bubbles to speak of, and zero representation from the wine world's more interesting corners.
Eight to ten options by the glass covers the bases — red, white, rosé — and the pricing lands in the $7.50 to $11.25 range, which is honest money for West Virginia casual dining. The Mark West Pinot Noir makes a dependable glass pour, and the Heinz Eifel Riesling by the glass is a genuinely useful option for shellfish nights. Rotation appears nonexistent — this list looks like it hasn't changed much in a while.
Franciscan Cabernet Sauvignon — $30/bottle
Franciscan is a legit Napa Cab that retails around $18-20, so a $30 bottle price is about as fair as restaurant markup gets. Order the bottle, not the glass.
Heinz Eifel Riesling
Nobody orders Riesling at a seafood shack, which is a shame — because nothing cuts through buttery crab and spiced Caribbean sauces quite like a crisp, slightly off-dry German Riesling. At $8.25 a glass, this is the move most people are sleeping on.
William Hill Chardonnay
At $49 a bottle, William Hill Chardonnay is the most expensive thing on this list and it's not close to worth it. This is a $13 retail bottle. The glass pour at $11.25 is already pushing it — don't let anyone talk you into the bottle.
Heinz Eifel Riesling + Caribbean-style shellfish platter
The Riesling's acidity and subtle sweetness go to work against the brine of the shellfish and the heat of Caribbean spicing — it's the kind of pairing that makes you look smart without trying.
