Four wines. That's the list. At an Italian trattoria in Dunwoody, you'd hope for at least a passing nod to the country whose cuisine inspired the name — a Barolo, a Vermentino, maybe a Verdicchio — but instead we get a quartet that reads more like an airport duty-free shelf than a curated program. It's not a bad four bottles; it's just a very small ask.
The list offers exactly one genuine Italian expression: the Uccelliera Brunello di Montalcino, which is a legitimately serious wine from a well-regarded Montalcino producer. The Tre Sotto Bolgheri Rosso gives you a Super Tuscan-adjacent pour that at least stays in Italy. Then there's The Prisoner from The Prisoner Wine Company — a California Zinfandel-based blend that's popular for a reason but feels like it wandered in from a steakhouse — and The Mascot, another California red from the same orbit. Two Italian bottles, two California crowd-pleasers, zero whites, zero bubbles, zero by-the-glass information. For a pasta-forward Italian restaurant, the absence of any white wine is genuinely puzzling.
By-the-glass options are not documented anywhere we could find, which means we can't tell you whether any of these four bottles are even poured by the glass. If you're hoping to try a couple of different things across a meal, that information gap alone is a problem worth knowing before you sit down.
The Bottom Line
Carbonara Trattoria appears to treat wine as an afterthought — four bottles, no documented by-the-glass program, no whites, no bubbles, and a roster that's half California crowd-pleasers at an Italian restaurant. If you're serious about wine, call ahead and ask about their corkage policy. The Uccelliera Brunello is the one bottle here worth your attention, but a list this thin deserves honest skepticism. Order a cocktail or bring your own.

At $6 a glass, the price is hard to argue with — but when the entire wine program is two anonymous varietal labels with no producer or origin attached, there's nothing to get excited about. If wine matters to you even a little, order a margarita instead.

Joey D's Oak Room isn't trying to reinvent the wine list — it's trying to make sure you drink well at dinner in Dunwoody, and it largely succeeds. The by-the-glass program is the real story here: broad, fairly priced, and anchored by a few genuinely interesting picks. Send a friend here when they want a reliable glass of something decent without a side of pretension.

Fogo de Chão Dunwoody isn't building a wine destination — it's running a smart, scaled by-the-glass program that keeps the price of entry low and the list familiar enough that you never feel stuck. The $6 South American tier is a genuine win for a night centered on meat and fire. Send a friend here for the Alamos Malbec and the picanha; just don't send them expecting to geek out.

Vino Venue is a genuine suburban overachiever — a small, sparkling-forward list with real Champagne options and fair pricing in a part of Atlanta that typically offers neither. If you're going to drink, lead with bubbles and don't touch the Moscato.

Sam & Rosco's wine list is technically functional — the prices are fair, the pours are available by the glass, and nothing is embarrassing. But nine all-white bottles with zero reds at an Italian restaurant feels less like a curated choice and more like nobody got around to finishing the list. If wine matters to you tonight, order a glass of the Maschio Brut and call it good.

Mama Lucia's wine list punches well above its weight for a casual Italian restaurant in Newnan — fair pricing, real Italian regional depth, and an almost entirely by-the-glass program that invites exploration. If you're the kind of person who gets excited about Valtellina Superiore showing up at $13 a glass, send a friend here immediately.

Lucia's looks like a solid neighborhood Italian where the wine list does its job without putting on a show — fair enough for what it is. We'd love to give a stronger verdict, but the wine program isn't documented well enough for us to send you in with a specific bottle recommendation. Go for the Bolognese, ask your server what's open, and report back.
