Wingman Metrics
Fifteen bottles on a farm-to-table café list could easily be a disaster — think Meiomi Pinot and a token Malbec. The Cook and Her Farmer swings hard in the opposite direction, stacking the list with natural and low-intervention producers that most wine bars would be proud to carry. This is not an afterthought wine program.
Broc Cellars shows up three times — 'Love' White, 'Love' Rosé, and 'Love' Red — which tells you exactly where this list is coming from. Beyond that Bay Area anchor, the list reaches into Italy for the Col Tamarie sparkling wines and Cantina Giardino's 'Tu', dips into the Loire for Gaspard's Chenin, and pulls in Rémi Dufaitre from Beaujolais and Swick Wines from Oregon. For 15 labels, the geographic and stylistic range is genuinely impressive. The gaps — no skin-contact whites, limited reds overall — are real, but the curation within those constraints is deliberate and confident.
Three pours available: a House Wine at $13/glass, an Assorted Wine at $16/glass, and a Seasonal Sangria at $13/glass. The vagueness of 'House Wine' and 'Assorted Wine' is frustrating — we want to know what's in the glass. The Sangria at least signals seasonal intention, which is more than most cafés bother with.
The Bottom Line
The Cook and Her Farmer is pulling off something genuinely rare: a café-scale wine list that reads like it was built by someone who actually cares, priced fairly enough that you can order a bottle without doing math on your phone. The bottle prices top out at $44, the producers are legit, and the value is real. If you're in Oakland and want a low-key natural wine experience without the wine bar attitude or the wine bar prices, this place belongs on your rotation.
Montclair · Oakland · French / New American Wine Bar
Perle is the kind of neighborhood wine bar that Oakland's hillside deserves — French-leaning, sommelier-backed, and serious enough to care without making it weird. We don't have the full list receipts to make specific bottle calls right now, but the bones are good and the food menu gives plenty of reasons to show up. Worth a visit if you're in Montclair and want a real glass of wine with your hanger steak.

District Oakland is doing something quietly impressive: a whiskey bar with a wine list that would embarrass most dedicated wine bars. The pricing is honest, the selections have a point of view, and the all-glass-pour format means you can graze your way through regions without any commitment. Send a friend? Yes — especially the friend who thinks they don't like wine.
