Wingman Metrics
Woodblock leads with cocktails and whiskey — the wine list feels like it knows its lane and stays in it. Twenty-something bottles, familiar labels, nothing that's going to make a wine nerd's heart race. But flip to Wednesday and the whole calculus changes.
The list leans heavily Pacific Northwest, with a handful of Columbia Valley standbys like Novelty Hill's 'Royal Slope' Chardonnay and Nine Hats Pinot Gris anchoring the whites. California and a token Italian Prosecco round things out, but don't come looking for Burgundy, Rhône, or anything that requires an explanation. This is a list built for the table that wants something decent without overthinking it — which, honestly, is most tables. The gaps are real: no skin-contact wines, no imported reds worth mentioning, and the 'adventurous' ceiling is a Mark Ryan Rosé.
Fifteen to eighteen options across the board, offered in both 6oz and 9oz pours, which we appreciate — not everywhere gives you that choice. The range covers the basics well enough: a crisp white, a rosé, a bubbly, a crowd-friendly red. Don't expect a rotating list of discovery pours, but the everyday drinker is covered.
Novelty Hill 'Royal Slope' Chardonnay 2022, Columbia Valley — $44/bottle
Novelty Hill is one of Washington's most consistent producers, and Royal Slope Chardonnay punches above its price point. At $44 on the list — and half that on Wine Wednesday — this is genuinely worth ordering over a cocktail.
Mark Ryan 'Flowerhead' Rosé 2024, Columbia Valley
Mark Ryan quietly makes some of the best value rosé in Washington, and most people at Woodblock are going to walk right past it for the Meiomi. Don't be those people.
Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough
At $18 a glass on a wine that retails for $35, you're paying a 51% glass markup for a name everyone already knows. It's fine wine. It's not $18-a-glass fine. The Nine Hats Pinot Gris exists and costs less.
Nine Hats Pinot Gris 2024, Columbia Valley + Falafel Bites
Columbia Valley Pinot Gris tends to run slightly off-dry with good acidity — exactly what you want against crispy, herby falafel. Cuts the richness, doesn't fight the spice.
Wednesday — 50% off all bottles of wine from open to close on Wednesdays. Also runs daily 3–5 pm happy hour with 50% off bottles under $100.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Woodblock isn't a wine destination, but with fair markups, a legit half-price bottle program, and solid Washington State representation, it earns its keep as a neighborhood spot that won't insult your palate. Show up on a Wednesday and it's genuinely hard to complain.
Overlake / SE Redmond · Redmond · Italian
Tropea is the kind of neighborhood Italian spot where the wine list does its job without breaking any new ground — reliable, Italian-focused, and slightly overpriced in spots. Send a friend here who wants a solid Brunello with their pasta, not a friend who wants to be surprised.

Woodinville Wine Country / Willows Lodge · Redmond · Pacific Northwest / Modern American
Barking Frog is the kind of wine program you want to find at a wine country lodge — regionally committed, staffed by someone who gives a damn, and built around the same local ethos as the kitchen. Markup is the only real friction; everything else earns its reputation.

Red Robin's wine program is an afterthought dressed as a bar menu — order a craft beer or a cocktail and don't look back. If someone at the table insists on wine, point them toward the rosé and change the subject.

Three Lions is a genuinely fun pub for watching a match over a cold pint — but the wine list is purely incidental, maintained with minimal effort and zero ambition. Come for the football, the beers, and the bangers and mash; if wine is your thing, drink something else tonight.

JJ Mahoney's is a good pub for a pint and some fish and chips — but the wine list is purely functional, not worth seeking out. If wine is your priority tonight, eat here and drink somewhere else after.

Brown's Stockyard Exchange is the wine equivalent of a reliable truck: won't break down, won't blow your mind. If you're eating here for the steaks — and you probably should be — order the Columbia Crest, get out of the way, and let the food do the work.

Citizen Soul is the Wild Card that keeps Alpharetta interesting. Three sommeliers in a gastropub, twenty wines by the glass, and a corkage policy that invites you to bring your best bottle. Do not let the casual setting fool you — this is serious wine territory.

1920 Tavern is a bourbon bar that happens to have a wine list worth exploring. Monday Wine Nights, a globally influenced menu that creates real pairing opportunities, and a South African Pinotage hiding on a Canton Street wine list make this a wildcard worth playing. Come for the Smoked Old Fashioned, stay because the wine surprised you.
