You're here for the lager, and the room will remind you of that immediately — soaring timber ceilings, long communal tables, and a tap list that could make a Bavarian homesick. The wine list is a single laminated column of four bottles, tucked quietly beside seventeen beers. Somehow, against all odds, those four picks are actually worth a look.
Four wines is not a list — it's a suggestion. But whoever made these four picks was paying attention: a Baumgartner Grüner Veltliner from Austria is a legitimately on-theme choice for a hall built on alpine nostalgia, and a Nero d'Avola from Sicily shows someone was thinking about the schnitzel and sausage plates rather than just filling a slot. The Elki Sauvignon Blanc from Chile is the obligatory crowd-pleaser, and the La Coux Côtes du Rhône rounds out the reds with something food-friendly and unfussy. No depth, no discovery, no cellar — but nothing embarrassing either.
All four bottles pour by the glass, so the list and the by-the-glass program are the same thing — which is either admirably transparent or just the whole truth laid bare. Prices run $10–$11 a glass, which is honest money in a Vermont resort town. Don't expect rotation or seasonal additions; what's on the menu is what's on the menu.
Baumgartner Grüner Veltliner — $10
Ten dollars for a proper Austrian Grüner in an Austrian-themed bierhall is the most contextually appropriate pour on this list. It's crisp, food-friendly, and thematically dead-on with a plate of schnitzel. Hard to argue with that at this price point.
Nero d'Avola
Most people walking into a beer hall are not thinking Sicilian red, but they should be. Nero d'Avola has the fruit and body to stand up to bratwurst and sausage plates without getting lost, and at $11 a glass it quietly outperforms expectations.
Elki Sauvignon Blanc
Chilean Sauvignon Blanc is fine — and that's the problem. In a room built around Austrian brewing tradition and hearty alpine food, this is the safe, disengaged choice that has nothing interesting to say. Order the Grüner instead and actually be somewhere.
Baumgartner Grüner Veltliner + Schnitzel
Grüner Veltliner and schnitzel is an Austrian classic for a reason — the wine's acidity cuts through the fried crust, its herbal edge complements the meat, and the whole thing tastes like it was designed together in a Vienna kitchen. Here, it genuinely was.
🎲 The Bottom Line
This is a beer hall first, second, and third — and you should absolutely order the beer. But if your table wants wine, four thoughtful pours at fair prices beats the lazy list you'd expect, and the Grüner alone justifies the detour.

Trattoria La Festa is not a destination for the wine list — it's a destination for the atmosphere, the pasta, and crucially, Wednesday night, when every bottle under $100 goes half-price and suddenly a $50 Antinori feels like a very smart midweek decision. Go on a Wednesday, order the Bramito, and stop overthinking it.
