Thirteen labels isn't a wine list — it's a wine suggestion. But for a casual breakfast-and-dinner spot on Main Street in Stowe, it's honest about what it is: a curated shortlist of familiar names meant to complement a meal, not anchor one.
The list leans heavily California with a few Oregon and New Zealand detours and a couple of bubbles for good measure. You've got workhorses like A to Z Oregon Pinot Noir and Matchbook Chardonnay sitting next to slightly more ambitious picks like Siduri Pinot Noir and Paul Hobbs Cross Barn Chardonnay. There's no old-world depth here, no natural wine tangent, no Italian anything — but the selections are competent and drinkable without being embarrassing. The Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Champagne is the one bottle that signals someone was at least paying a little attention.
By-the-glass details aren't published, which is a small frustration in a town where people are popping in after a ski run and don't want to commit to a full bottle solo. What's on the list is approachable enough that most pours would land fine, but the lack of transparency is worth noting.
A to Z Oregon Pinot Noir — null
Consistently reliable Oregon Pinot at a fair price point — it's the most food-flexible bottle on the list and punches above its category in a short lineup like this.
Gruet Brut
New Mexico sparkling wine gets zero respect and that's a shame. Gruet is legitimately good bubbly for the price, and ordering it at a Stowe breakfast cafe while the mountain is visible out the window feels exactly right.
Rombauer Sauvignon Blanc
Rombauer built its reputation on Chardonnay, not Sauv Blanc. This one tends to feel overpriced for what it delivers, and with Three Brooms or Arona on the same list, there are better New Zealand options covering the same grape.
Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Champagne + Eggs Benedict
Hollandaise and bubbles are one of the more underrated breakfast combinations going. The acidity cuts the richness, the effervescence keeps things lively, and you feel like you made excellent decisions.
The Bottom Line
Butler's Pantry isn't here to impress wine nerds — it's here to make sure your dinner in Stowe doesn't come with a bad pour. For that, it mostly delivers.

The Cliff House is stunning scenery with a wine list that didn't get the memo. Four grocery-store pours at resort markups isn't a wine program — it's a placeholder. Come for the views, order a cocktail, and save the wine for dinner back in town.

The Green Mountain Inn is a beloved Stowe institution, and the dining room presumably does fine work with Vermont ingredients — but the wine list is an afterthought. If wine matters to your dinner, this is not the reason you're staying here.
