Wingman Metrics
Walking into Dedalus on Mountain Road, you half expect a tourist trap peddling local cider and overpriced Pinot. Instead, you're greeted by a real wine program — serious producers, thoughtfully curated shelves, and staff who clearly drink the stuff. It's a legitimate wine destination that happens to be sandwiched between ski rental shops.
The list leans old-world with genuine conviction: Vieux Télégraphe from the Southern Rhône, Marquis d'Angerville from Burgundy, and Aldo Conterno anchoring Piedmont. The new-world side isn't an afterthought either — Broc Cellars and Martha Stoumen represent California's natural wine scene with real credibility. Most compelling is Dedalus' own Chianti Classico, made in collaboration with Tuscany's Corsini family, which gives the list a proprietary edge you won't find anywhere else in Vermont. The only gap is a thin Vermont local section, which feels like a missed opportunity given the setting.
Specific by-the-glass counts weren't available during our visit, but the retail-and-bar hybrid format means the pours rotate with the shop inventory — which is a genuine upside. You're not locked into the same six bottles a traditional restaurant would stretch across six months.
Dedalus Chianti Classico (Corsini) — null
A house label made by an actual Tuscan producer isn't a gimmick — it's a shortcut to real Sangiovese at a price that reflects the house relationship, not a restaurant markup. Hard to find a better reason to order something you can only get here.
Martha Stoumen
Most tables here will reach for the recognizable European names and miss this completely. Martha Stoumen's work in California — whole-cluster, low-intervention, built for the table — is exactly what wine-bar drinking is supposed to feel like, and it flies under the radar next to the Burgundy and Rhône heavyweights on the same list.
Ellison Estate
Without pricing data confirmed, we can't call this a value play, and the profile doesn't match the energy of the rest of the list. When you're surrounded by Vieux Télégraphe and Aldo Conterno, this is the bottle that doesn't earn its place on the page.
Marquis d'Angerville + Cheese and charcuterie board
d'Angerville's Volnay has the acidity and red-fruit tension to cut through rich cured meats without bullying the aged cheeses. It's the kind of pairing that makes a board feel like a full meal.
The Bottom Line
Dedalus Stowe is a legit wild card — a destination wine bar hiding in plain sight on a ski mountain road. If you care about what's in your glass, detour here before or after the slopes.

Tipsy Trout is a solid resort wine program — not adventurous, not embarrassing, and priced exactly how you'd expect a mountain lodge with a view to price it. Come for the raw bar and the scenery; just don't expect the wine list to be the reason you made the reservation.

Trattoria La Festa is not a destination for the wine list — it's a destination for the atmosphere, the pasta, and crucially, Wednesday night, when every bottle under $100 goes half-price and suddenly a $50 Antinori feels like a very smart midweek decision. Go on a Wednesday, order the Bramito, and stop overthinking it.
