Wingman Metrics
The wine list at The Cliff House fits on a napkin — and not a big napkin. Four options, all by the glass, in a tight $14–$15 range. The mountain views are doing a lot of heavy lifting here.
This is a four-label program: a Prosecco, a Pinot Grigio, a Chardonnay, and a Malbec. That's it. No reds beyond the Malbec, no Rosé, nothing from Burgundy, Bordeaux, the Rhône, or anywhere that might suggest someone gave this more than ten minutes of thought. Cline Cellars and Ruffino are grocery store staples, and Archer Roose is a canned wine brand — though it appears here by the glass. This is a ski-lodge afterthought, not a wine program.
All four wines are by the glass, which is technically the entire list — so full marks for consistency, at least. Prices land at $14–$15 per glass, which feels steep for Ruffino Pinot Grigio and Cline Chardonnay, wines you'd find on a supermarket shelf for $10–$12 a bottle. Rotation appears nonexistent.
The Bottom Line
The Cliff House is stunning scenery with a wine list that didn't get the memo. Four grocery-store pours at resort markups isn't a wine program — it's a placeholder. Come for the views, order a cocktail, and save the wine for dinner back in town.
· Stowe · Vermont American
The Green Mountain Inn is a beloved Stowe institution, and the dining room presumably does fine work with Vermont ingredients — but the wine list is an afterthought. Ten bottles, no local producers, limited transparency on by-the-glass options, and a markup structure that doesn't reward loyalty. If wine matters to your dinner, this is not the reason you're staying here.

Tipsy Trout is a solid resort wine program — not adventurous, not embarrassing, and priced exactly how you'd expect a mountain lodge with a view to price it. Come for the raw bar and the scenery; just don't expect the wine list to be the reason you made the reservation.

Mountain Road corridor · Stowe · Wine Bar
Dedalus Stowe is a legit wild card — a destination wine bar hiding in plain sight on a ski mountain road. If you care about what's in your glass, detour here before or after the slopes.

Butler's Pantry isn't here to impress wine nerds — it's here to make sure your dinner in Stowe doesn't come with a bad pour. For that, it mostly delivers.

Trapp Hill Road / East Stowe · Stowe · Beer Hall, Austrian
This is a beer hall first, second, and third — and you should absolutely order the beer. But if your table wants wine, four thoughtful pours at fair prices beats the lazy list you'd expect, and the Grüner alone justifies the detour.

Topnotch / Mountain Road · Stowe · Resort Restaurant, American
Flannel is a beautiful room serving a wine list that couldn't care less about the room it's in. If you're here, order a cocktail or budget for the Santa Margherita and move on — there's no wine discovery happening tonight.

Pine Creek Cookhouse is not a wine destination — it's an experience destination where the wine list exists to complement a genuinely special setting, and to its credit, it doesn't try to be more than that. The pricing is fair, the range covers the basics without embarrassing anyone, and the Gascon white alone is worth knowing about. Come for the mountain, stay for the sleigh ride, and don't overthink the wine.

Teton Village · Jackson Hole · Mountain American
Spur is a reliable wine stop for resort guests who want something familiar and well-executed with dinner — just don't expect the list to match the drama of the Teton views outside. If you're a serious wine drinker, manage expectations; if you just want a good glass of California red with your elk tenderloin, you'll be fine.
