Wingman Metrics
You don't expect to walk into a wine bar in Boardman, Ohio and find over 1,100 labels staring back at you β but here we are. The tasting-room energy hits immediately: casual, unpretentious, and genuinely serious about wine in a way that most big-city spots aren't. It's the kind of place that earns a second look.
The list is legitimately expansive for a mid-Ohio suburb, pulling from California, Argentina, South Africa, Australia, and Italy with enough range to keep things interesting. You'll find crowd-pleasers like Bogle Old Vine Zinfandel and Kenwood Merlot sitting alongside more adventurous picks like the Cederberg Bukettraube White from South Africa β a grape most people couldn't name on a bet. The Argentina representation leans on Malbec, and the Italian side covers your basic bases. The gaps show in the Old World: Burgundy, Rioja, and the RhΓ΄ne are largely absent, which keeps this from being a truly elite cellar.
The by-the-glass program runs somewhere between 20 and 40 options depending on the day, which is a solid range for a spot this size. Happy Hour from 3β7pm every single day makes those pours significantly more interesting from a value standpoint. Rotation frequency is unclear, but the breadth of the bottle list suggests there's room to experiment.
Bogle Old Vine Zinfandel β $10
Old Vine Zin at happy hour prices is a no-brainer. Bogle consistently over-delivers for the category, and this is the kind of glass that makes the 3pm arrival feel very justified.
Cederberg Bukettraube White
Most people will walk right past a South African white made from Bukettraube β a rare, aromatic grape that almost nobody is pouring in northeast Ohio. That's exactly why you should order it. It's a genuine conversation starter and proof that this list has some real curiosity built into it.
Centorri Moscato
Moscato is the wine list equivalent of a participation trophy. It's here because it sells, not because anyone is excited about it. With 1,100 bottles to choose from, you can do better.
Frisk Riesling + Charcuterie Board
Frisk is a lightly fizzy, off-dry Riesling from Australia that cuts through fat and salt like it was designed for the job. Against cured meats and sharp cheese on a charcuterie spread, it keeps everything bright and keeps you reaching for the next pour.
Daily β Happy Hour every day from 3β7pm with wine and beer discounts.
π² The Bottom Line
Vintage Estate is a genuine surprise β a massive, fairly priced wine list in a place most wine travelers would never think to stop. If you're anywhere near Youngstown, the daily happy hour alone is worth the detour.
Boardman Β· Youngstown Β· Italian
Antone's isn't a wine destination, but it's not trying to be β the list is fair-priced and honest, which is more than you can say for a lot of places charging twice as much for the same bottles. Send a friend here for dinner without hesitation; just tell them to skip the White Zin.

Leo's isn't destination wine drinking, but it's doing the honest work of a good neighborhood Italian β fair prices, real producers, and enough Italian depth to make the food and wine feel like they belong together. Send a friend here without hesitation.

Boardman Β· Youngstown Β· American tavern with steakhouse, bar, pizza, seafood, barbecue, and pub fare
Blue Wolf Tavern earns its reputation as a great neighborhood spot, but the wine list is an afterthought and everyone involved seems to know it. Stick to the bar menu β the cocktails and beer selection will serve you far better than two grocery-tier pours ever will.

Salvatore's isn't a wine destination, but it's a perfectly functional neighborhood Italian spot where the wine won't embarrass you and Wednesday's half-price bottle deal is genuinely worth planning around. Send your parents here; just steer them away from the Woodbridge.

Liberty/Belmont Corridor Β· Youngstown Β· Italian Steakhouse
Station Square Ristorante is the wine list Youngstown doesn't know it has β deep Italian selections, prestige California anchors, and 450+ bottles that would turn heads in any city. The markups are real and there's no dynamic specials program to soften them, but if you're willing to invest in a bottle of Barolo or a Super Tuscan, this place delivers.

StoneBridge is a neighborhood bar and grill that serves food, not a restaurant that takes wine seriously β and two labels confirms that. Order a cocktail or a beer and have a good time; just don't come here expecting anything from the wine list.

If you've never had Black Ankle and you're anywhere near Frederick, this is the easiest yes we can give you β a rare chance to taste one of Maryland's genuinely great producers in a focused, unpretentious setting. The single-producer format is a limitation, but when the producer is this good, it barely matters.

Ladro is punching well above its weight for downtown Champaign β the markups sting, but Wednesday's half-price special practically solves that problem on its own. If you're a U of I regular and haven't discovered this place yet, fix that.
