Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Village Italian is exactly what you'd expect from a suburban Italian spot in Cumming — familiar brands, predictable regions, and prices that won't make you wince. At 29 labels spread across whites, reds, and sangria, it's a list built for comfort, not curiosity. Nothing here is going to surprise you, and that's kind of the point.
The Italian representation is thin for a restaurant wearing Italy on its sleeve — you get Ruffino Chianti, San Felice Chianti, Tommasi Rompicollo, Masciarelli Montepulciano, and Monte Antico Super Tuscan, which is a decent starting point but barely scratches the surface of what Italian wine can do. The rest of the list leans heavily American, with Caymus, Stag's Leap, Decoy, La Crema, and Bonanza holding court alongside the Trivento Malbec doing its best to represent South America. There's no Barolo, no Amarone, no Brunello, no Vermentino — the list plays it extremely safe and doesn't lean into the cuisine it's meant to complement. Conundrum Red Blend's presence here says everything you need to know about the ambition level.
One. One by-the-glass option at $6. We don't know which wine it is from the data available, but a single pour option at a full-service Italian restaurant is a real conversation-ender. If you're hoping to explore anything off the list without committing to a bottle, you're out of luck.
The Bottom Line
Village Italian's wine list is a functional, inoffensive collection that gets the job done without doing anything interesting. The bottle prices are fair, the Italian selections are limited but present, and the single by-the-glass option is a real miss. Come for the pasta; don't come for the wine program.
· Cumming, GA · German and European
Gasthaus Tirol isn't a wine bar, and nobody's driving from Atlanta for the list — but for a German restaurant in suburban Cumming, the wine program is legitimately thoughtful in spots. Fair prices across the board, every bottle available by the glass, and a handful of German-specific picks that actually match the menu make this a solid call if you're already there for the schnitzel. Order the Malbec or explore the Dornfelder and you'll leave happy.

GrapeVine's Casual Italian is a solid neighborhood spot where the wine list won't blow your mind but also won't insult your wallet. If the Abruzzo regional thread holds up on the actual menu, there's a decent, food-friendly red waiting for you alongside the Baked Ziti or Chicken Pamplona. Check the menu directly before you go — this one earns its Reliable badge by doing the basics right.

Meadow Grill is doing something genuinely unusual for suburban North Georgia: building a wine list that would turn heads in the city. The whites are the star — Burgundy, Loire, Austria, Alsace, and two Chateauneuf Blancs under one roof — at prices that don't feel punitive. We'd send a wine-curious friend here without hesitation, with the caveat that the red program likely needs the same attention the whites have already received.

YAVA is a craft beer joint that remembered wine drinkers exist, and it did a decent job of it. Not a wine destination, but if you're in Cumming and eating live-fire, you won't go thirsty or broke.

Lake Lanier / Lanier Islands · Cumming, GA · American bar and grill with seafood, chicken, and steak
The Twisted Oar is a genuinely fun lakefront spot, but the wine list is pure afterthought — nine bottles, five from the same budget Chilean producer, and nothing that reflects the effort the kitchen clearly puts into the food. Order the Wither Hills, enjoy the view, and don't expect more than that.

Nino's wine list is exactly what it looks like: a dependable, crowd-pleasing selection built for guests who want something familiar with their chicken piccata. The pricing runs steep in places — Korbel at $50 is hard to defend — but the Italian whites, especially the Gavi options, show that someone put at least some thought into this. Send a friend here if they want a comfortable, no-surprises dinner; don't send them if they're hunting for value or discovery.

Amore e Amore earns its stripes as a reliable neighborhood Italian spot where the atmosphere is the main event. If you're coming for a celebration dinner, you'll likely have a great time — just go in knowing the wine list hasn't been independently confirmed to be anything exceptional. Check the menu online before you go if wine is a priority, and when in doubt, ask your server what's Italian and under $60.

An Italian list dated 06.17.26 with 18 glass pours at 15 to 19 and full bottles from 60 to 970. Start with the Barbera d’Alba La Gemella at 15 a glass, or the Fontanavecchia Aglianico del Taburno from the chef’s Campania hometown at 17, and confirm prices because the list says they are subject to change.
