A wine bar tucked into a strip mall off Union Hills isn't exactly where you expect to find GrΓΌner Veltliner from Austria or Madeira from The Rare Wine Co. β but here we are. The casual tasting room vibe signals 'come hang out' more than 'impress your boss,' which is exactly the right call for this part of Glendale. The list reads like someone actually did their homework.
For a neighborhood wine bar, this list punches well above its weight class. You've got Laurent Perrachon Gamay from Beaujolais, a Gilbert Chon Le Tristan Cabernet Franc from the Loire, and a Picpoul de Pinet from Mas de Daumas Gassac β that's not accident, that's intention. The West Coast contingent holds its own too: Sans Liege's GSM 'The Offering' from the Central Coast and the Painted Fields Zinfandel OFV from Sierra Foothills represent the kind of California that doesn't show up on chain restaurant lists. The Argentina and Italy coverage is solid without being lazy, and the fortified wine corner β Tawny Port from Meneres and Boston Bual Special Reserve Madeira from The Rare Wine Co. β is a genuine surprise. The main gap is depth on the bottle side, where pricing data is thin and options appear limited.
Rotating between roughly 16 and 24 options at $12β$19 a glass, the pour program is the beating heart of this place. That range is generous for a spot of this size, and the fact that bottles like the J. Dusi Model M Red Blend and Henry Lagarde Malbec make it onto the glass list means you're not stuck choosing between Chardonnay and 'the other Chardonnay.' The rotation keeps things interesting enough to justify repeat visits.
Gamay, Laurent Perrachon, Beaujolais, France β $14
Beaujolais from a real producer at wine bar by-the-glass pricing is a steal. Light, food-friendly, and criminally underordered by people who still think Beaujolais means Nouveau.
Boston Bual Special Reserve Madeira, The Rare Wine Co.
Most people walk right past Madeira on a wine list. Don't. The Rare Wine Co. makes the good stuff β complex, nutty, oxidative in the best way β and finding it poured by the glass at a Glendale strip mall is genuinely wild.
Pinot Noir, Hangtime, California
Hangtime is a high-volume, widely distributed California brand that you can find at any grocery store. In a list this thoughtful, it's the one phone-it-in selection β your $14 is better spent elsewhere on this menu.
GSM 'The Offering', Sans Liege Wines, Central Coast, California + Charcuterie and cheese board
Sans Liege's GSM brings enough fruit and spice to stand up to cured meats and aged cheeses without steamrolling them. It's the kind of wine that makes a snack board feel like an actual meal.
π² The Bottom Line
Turquoise Wine Bar is the kind of place that earns its Wild Card badge honestly β not by being weird for weird's sake, but by curating a genuinely curious list in a zip code that didn't ask for one. Send your wine-curious friends here; they'll leave with something new to talk about.
Westgate Entertainment District Β· Glendale Β· American gastropub / bar & grill
Bar Louie Westgate is a perfectly fine place to drink beer and watch a game β the wine list is an afterthought and everyone involved seems to know it. If wine is your thing, order a cocktail and come back to the wine conversation at a different restaurant.

Kabuki Westgate is a fun spot for sushi and cocktails on a Cardinals game night β just don't come for the wine list. Order a sake flight instead and save yourself the markup.

Downtown Glendale Β· Glendale Β· Pizza, American Gastropub
Desert Rose is a genuinely fun neighborhood spot with a patio worth sitting on β just don't come here for the wine list. Order a craft beer or a cocktail, enjoy the pizza, and save your wine curiosity for somewhere that earned it.

Maggiano's Westgate is perfectly fine for a glass of wine with dinner β just don't come expecting the list to match the ambition of the kitchen. If wine is actually important to your night, this probably isn't your destination.

Bonefish Grill Glendale isn't a wine destination, but it's a perfectly functional place to have a glass with dinner without feeling ripped off. Send your friends here for the Bang Bang Shrimp β just don't tell them to geek out on the list.

Skip the wine list on any day that isn't Wednesday β the markups are too steep for what's in the glass. But Half Off Wine Wednesday genuinely changes the math, and a $20 bottle of Prosecco rosΓ© with a bowl of meatballs is hard to argue with.

Vin Atl is doing something most Atlanta wine bars aren't: curating a short list with genuine intention instead of padding it with safe bets. At these prices, it's worth a stop even if you only come for one bottle.

Legacy West Β· Plano Β· Wine Bar
CRΓ Plano punches well above its Legacy West strip-mall setting β 300 bottles and a genuinely active specials calendar make this worth a dedicated visit, not just a last-resort pour before the movie. Just don't come looking for Burgundy and you'll leave happy.

The Cask is a genuinely pleasant place to spend an evening β the vibe is right, the crowd is friendly, and the bar snacks do their job. But the wine list is overpriced brand recognition, not a curated program, and no amount of Tuesday specials changes the math on a $40 Josh Cellars.
