First Impression

Walk in expecting another generic Scottsdale wine bar and get something that actually has a point of view. The whole list is built around Arizona producers β€” a bold, deliberate bet that most places don't have the conviction to make. The chill patio, the upbeat soundtrack, and the sommelier behind the bar tell you immediately that somebody here gives a damn.

Selection Deep Dive

This is an Arizona wine bar in the truest sense β€” the list leans hard into Willcox and the state's other emerging appellations, featuring producers like Omphalos Winery, Soaring Wines, and 1764 Vineyards out of Pearce. It's not a sprawling 200-bottle global tour, and that's fine β€” the focus is the point. Chateau Tumbleweed's 2021 rosΓ© shows they're paying attention to what's actually happening in Arizona wine right now, not just stocking the obvious crowd-pleasers. If you came for a Napa Cab or a Burgundy, you're in the wrong room β€” and honestly, good.

By the Glass

Forty wines by the glass or by flight is a legitimately impressive commitment for a focused regional list. At $18–$25 a glass, the pricing is fair enough that you can actually explore without doing math all night. Flights are the move here β€” they're the fastest way to understand what Arizona wine actually tastes like across producers.

πŸ’°Best Value

Lapiz Luna Cabernet Sauvignon β€” $25

Retails around $20 and they're pouring it at $25 a glass β€” that's essentially retail markup on a glass pour, which almost never happens. Drink it.

πŸ’ŽHidden Gem

Omphalos Winery

Willcox is still flying under the radar nationally, and Omphalos is one of the reasons serious wine people are starting to pay attention. Most guests here will walk past it for something familiar β€” don't be that person.

β›”Skip This

Soaring Wines

Also out of Willcox and at $18, it's not a rip-off by any stretch β€” but based on what's available, Omphalos and 1764 offer more interesting drinking at similar or close price points. Not a bad wine, just the weaker pick on this particular bench.

🍽️Perfect Pairing

Chateau Tumbleweed 2021 RosΓ© + Sharable Charcuterie & Fromage Board

A dry Arizona rosΓ© and a spread of cured meats and cheese is exactly as good as it sounds β€” the wine's acidity cuts through the fat, the fruit plays off the salt, and you're not going anywhere for a while.

🎲 The Bottom Line

If you think Arizona wine is a novelty, The Wine Collective will change your mind β€” and do it at prices that don't feel like punishment. Send your most skeptical wine friend here first.
