Wingman Metrics
Walk in expecting another generic Scottsdale wine bar and get something that actually has a point of view. The whole list is built around Arizona producers — a bold, deliberate bet that most places don't have the conviction to make. The chill patio, the upbeat soundtrack, and the sommelier behind the bar tell you immediately that somebody here gives a damn.
This is an Arizona wine bar in the truest sense — the list leans hard into Willcox and the state's other emerging appellations, featuring producers like Omphalos Winery, Soaring Wines, and 1764 Vineyards out of Pearce. It's not a sprawling 200-bottle global tour, and that's fine — the focus is the point. Chateau Tumbleweed's 2021 rosé shows they're paying attention to what's actually happening in Arizona wine right now, not just stocking the obvious crowd-pleasers. If you came for a Napa Cab or a Burgundy, you're in the wrong room — and honestly, good.
Forty wines by the glass or by flight is a legitimately impressive commitment for a focused regional list. At $18–$25 a glass, the pricing is fair enough that you can actually explore without doing math all night. Flights are the move here — they're the fastest way to understand what Arizona wine actually tastes like across producers.
Lapiz Luna Cabernet Sauvignon — $25
Retails around $20 and they're pouring it at $25 a glass — that's essentially retail markup on a glass pour, which almost never happens. Drink it.
Omphalos Winery
Willcox is still flying under the radar nationally, and Omphalos is one of the reasons serious wine people are starting to pay attention. Most guests here will walk past it for something familiar — don't be that person.
Soaring Wines
Also out of Willcox and at $18, it's not a rip-off by any stretch — but based on what's available, Omphalos and 1764 offer more interesting drinking at similar or close price points. Not a bad wine, just the weaker pick on this particular bench.
Chateau Tumbleweed 2021 Rosé + Sharable Charcuterie & Fromage Board
A dry Arizona rosé and a spread of cured meats and cheese is exactly as good as it sounds — the wine's acidity cuts through the fat, the fruit plays off the salt, and you're not going anywhere for a while.
The Bottom Line
If you think Arizona wine is a novelty, The Wine Collective will change your mind — and do it at prices that don't feel like punishment. Send your most skeptical wine friend here first.

Anhelo is doing something quietly ambitious — a focused, considered wine list in a city that often settles for Caymus and a bucket of Whispering Angel. The markups aren't shy, but the curation is real, and the Sauternes library alone is worth a detour.

Frasher's isn't reinventing the steakhouse wine list, but it's doing the job with a Wine Spectator credential and a Wednesday half-price night that makes the steep markups a lot easier to live with. Send a friend here if they want a reliable California Cab with their red meat — just tell them to go on Wednesday.

The Living Room isn't trying to reinvent wine — it's trying to make California Cab and Chardonnay feel like an event, and it mostly succeeds. Send your friends here for a comfortable, well-staffed wine experience; just remind them to drink the Duckhorn.

Marcellino is doing something genuinely uncommon in Scottsdale — a disciplined, Italy-first wine program with real producers and a sommelier who clearly cares. Markups tip steep on the prestige bottles, but the depth of the list earns it a spot on your list if Italian wine is your thing.

Vino Volo clears the airport bar bar by a comfortable margin — better-than-expected service, a list that at least tries, and a seat that makes a delay feel like less of a punishment. Just don't look too hard at the markup and you'll be fine.
