The wine list at Crafted Americana reads exactly how you'd expect from a resort dining room in Wisconsin: California-forward, brand-recognizable, and priced for a captive audience. There's nothing here that will surprise you, but nothing that will actively embarrass you either. Think of it as a greatest-hits album — you've heard all of this before, but it still plays fine over dinner.
The list leans hard on California with familiar faces like Sonoma-Cutrer, Meiomi, and Daou anchoring the roster — producers that move volume because people recognize the label, not because someone hunted down a sleeper pick. There's a nod to France and the Pacific Northwest, but don't come looking for a Burgundy deep-cut or a left-field Willamette Valley discovery. The range lands somewhere in the 40–80 bottle zone, which is enough to make a choice without feeling paralyzed, but not enough to make a wine person lean forward in their chair. Gaps are notable in anything remotely adventurous — no natural wine, no skin-contact, no meaningful Southern Hemisphere presence.
Ten to sixteen by-the-glass options at $12–$20 a pour is a respectable count for a resort, and the price ceiling keeps things from going fully off the rails. Sonoma-Cutrer Russian River Ranches Chardonnay — $15
Sonoma-Cutrer's Russian River Ranches is a legitimately solid, well-made Chardonnay — oak-influenced but not overdone, with enough fruit weight to hold up next to a rich entrée. At the glass tier, it's the most defensible spend on this list for the quality you actually get in the glass.
Daou Cabernet Sauvignon
Daou doesn't get enough credit in resort-list contexts because it sits in the shadow of bigger Napa names, but the Paso Robles fruit delivers real concentration and structure at a price point well below what you'd pay for comparable Napa weight. Order it, don't announce it, enjoy it.
Meiomi Pinot Noir
Meiomi is a blended, high-production Pinot built for broad appeal, and resort markup only makes the math worse. You're paying elevated prices for a wine that retails under $20 everywhere — that delta is hard to justify when the goal is actually tasting Pinot Noir rather than a sweetish approximation of it.
Daou Cabernet Sauvignon + Prime Rib
Prime rib wants a red with enough structure to cut through the fat and enough fruit to not disappear next to the beef. Daou's Cab checks both boxes — it's got the backbone without being so tannic that it fights the meat. This is a straightforward win on a list that doesn't offer many adventurous alternatives.
The Bottom Line
Crafted Americana's wine program is resort-standard in the fullest sense: recognizable, priced for convenience, and unlikely to generate any complaints or any real excitement. If you're at The Ridge for the weekend and want a solid glass of Cab with your prime rib, you'll be fine — just don't come expecting a discovery.
