Meat-Forward House, Wine List Plays Defense

Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Texas de Brazil feels exactly like what you'd expect from a national chain steakhouse — safe, recognizable labels built to reassure rather than excite. You're not going to find anything that makes you put down your skewer, but you're also not going to be embarrassed ordering a bottle. It's a supporting cast that knows its role.
The 80-120 bottle list leans hard into California Cabs and Argentine Malbecs, which is a logical call given the fire-pit-meets-gaucho concept. Big names like Jordan, Opus One, and Catena Zapata carry the roster, and while those are genuinely good wines, the list doesn't push much beyond crowd-tested hits. There's no meaningful Tempranillo representation, no Chilean depth, and nothing from Uruguay — surprising omissions for a Brazilian-themed concept with South American ambitions. Francis Ford Coppola Diamond Collection showing up alongside Opus One is a bit like finding a Ford Focus in the same lot as a Ferrari.
Ten to fifteen by-the-glass options gives you enough to work with across a full rodizio spread. Expect the usual suspects — a Malbec, a Cab, a Chardonnay — without much rotation or surprise. Rombauer Chardonnay by the glass is a genuinely popular pour, though at chain pricing it won't feel like a bargain.
Catena Zapata Malbec — $55
Catena Zapata is one of the most reliable names in Argentine wine and a natural fit with charred picanha. You're getting real terroir and craft here, not just a label, and it's the list's strongest value play against the meat-heavy format.
Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon
Jordan gets overlooked because it's been on every steakhouse list since 1995, but that reputation undersells how well it actually drinks. Softer than a Napa blockbuster, it handles the parade of cuts without overwhelming — most people walk past it for something flashier and miss out.
Opus One Cabernet Sauvignon
Opus One is a legitimately great wine, but at steakhouse markup you're paying a significant premium for a bottle you could find at retail for far less. The rodizio format — where you're cycling through a dozen different cuts and sauces — also doesn't give a wine this structured and precise the quiet moment it deserves. Save Opus One for somewhere it gets the attention it's owed.
Catena Zapata Malbec + Flame-grilled picanha (top sirloin)
Argentina's most celebrated Malbec producer against Brazil's most iconic cut is a South American handshake that actually works. The wine's dark fruit and firm tannins match the char and fat of the picanha without competing — it's the one pairing on this list that feels intentional.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Texas de Brazil Naperville is a reliable wine stop if you keep your expectations calibrated to the format: you're here for the meat, the wine list knows that, and a Catena Malbec or Jordan Cab will get you through the night without drama. Just don't come looking for discovery — this list isn't trying to surprise you.
Downtown Naperville · Naperville · American pub / burgers
Jackson Avenue Pub is not a wine destination, but Wine Wednesdays at half-price make it a legitimately smart stop if you're already there for a burger and a game. Come for the beer, stay for the deal.

Freedom Commons / I-88 Corridor · Naperville · Seafood and Steakhouse
Hugo's Naperville is a reliable, well-run steakhouse wine program that will not let you down and will not excite you. Come for the prime beef and oysters, order the Jordan or the Duckhorn, and don't look too hard at the markup on the Pinot Grigio.

Downtown Naperville · Naperville · Mexican
Fat Rosie's is a genuinely fun taco and tequila spot that has no business being reviewed for its wine — and that's kind of the point. If your table wants wine, order cocktails instead and save everyone the disappointment.

Downtown Naperville · Naperville · Mediterranean
Vasili's isn't trying to be a wine destination, but the Greek-focused list has enough genuine producers and interesting grapes to reward curious drinkers — especially on Tuesdays when the bottles go half-price. Watch the markups on the Agiorgitiko, lean into the northern Greek reds and the Malagousia, and you'll eat and drink very well along that riverwalk.

Naperville · Naperville · Chicago-style pizzeria / Italian-American
Lou Malnati's is a legitimately iconic pizza destination — but the wine list is an afterthought, marked up on cheap bottles with zero curation or ambition. Come for the deep dish, drink beer, and save the wine night for somewhere that cares.

Hotel Arista / CityGate Centre · Naperville · Italian
Che Figata is the rare suburban hotel restaurant with a wine list worth actually engaging with — Italian-focused, sommelier-guided, and broad enough to reward exploration. The markups sting on a few bottles, but the range and program depth make this the best wine bet in Naperville's CityGate orbit.

La Plaza Mall area · McAllen · Brazilian Steakhouse (Churrascaria)
Texas de Brazil McAllen isn't a wine destination, but it's not a wine disaster either — the list is overpriced in spots and short on imagination, but the anchor bottles are solid enough to carry a big carnivore night. Send your friend here for the meat; just tell them to reach for the Malbec and skip the Pinot Grigio.

Tacoma Mall · Tacoma · Brazilian Steakhouse (Churrascaria)
Texas de Brazil Tacoma is a terrific place to eat a lot of meat. It is not a place to drink interesting wine. The list is corporate, the markups are real, and the effort put into the wine program is a fraction of what goes into the gaucho service. Order strategically, go on a Thursday if that promo holds locally, and spend your wine dollars carefully.

Midtown · Anchorage · Brazilian Steakhouse (Churrascaria)
Texas de Brazil Anchorage is a reliable enough wine stop if you calibrate expectations to match the format — this is a chain steakhouse, not a wine destination, and the list behaves accordingly. Grab the Catena, eat a lot of picanha, and don't overthink it.
