Wingman Metrics
Walk into Mac's and the wine wall hits you before anything else — 142 labels stacked from Yellow Tail to Frank Family Vineyards, covering enough ground to surprise anyone who wrote this place off as a beer shop. It's a bottle shop first, bar second, and that changes the math on pricing in a way that almost always works in your favor. No pretension, no ceremony — just a lot of wine and the quiet confidence of a place that knows what it is.
The list is a genuine mixed bag, and we mean that as a compliment. You've got Zuccardi and Zorzal repping Argentina, Zenato holding down northern Italy, Wilhelm Walch bringing Alto Adige altitude, and Wolffer doing its Hamptons-adjacent thing — all sharing shelf space with Yellow Tail and Woodbridge. That range tells you Mac's is playing to every type of buyer: the curious, the casual, and the serious. The presence of My Favorite Neighbor (a cult-adjacent Central Coast project) alongside Yalumba and Xanadu from Australia suggests some genuine curation is happening, even if the overall spread is broad rather than deep. Gaps exist — region focus is unclear and there's no obvious anchor in Burgundy or the Rhône — but for a bottle shop in Midtown, the breadth earns respect.
By-the-glass details aren't confirmed from our sources, and a bottle shop model often means pours take a back seat to take-home sales. If Mac's does offer glass pours, expect a rotating short list pulled from whatever's already open — useful for tasting before you commit to a bottle, less useful if you're planning a full sit-down wine experience.
The Bottom Line
Mac's Beer & Wine Midtown is a bottle shop doing more than it advertises — 142 labels, fair pricing, and enough range to reward some shelf-browsing time. It's not a wine bar destination in the traditional sense, but if you're looking for a specific producer or want to take something interesting home without a markup that makes you wince, this is the play. We'd send a friend here to shop, not necessarily to sit.

· Atlanta · Italian
Tavola Trattoria's wine program is five bottles deep and priced without apology — $101 for a Saracco Moscato is the kind of markup that makes you consider ordering water and going wine shopping after dinner. The list has no still wines at all, which is a strange call for an Italian restaurant. Order a cocktail or ask if they have a corkage policy, because this wine list isn't doing you any favors.

La Tavola is an Italian restaurant with a five-bottle wine list that stops at sparkling and rosé — no reds, no whites, no depth whatsoever. The pricing on what's there is difficult to justify. Unless you came specifically for Lambrusco or Franciacorta, you're better off calling ahead to ask about corkage.

Downtown Atlanta · Atlanta · Cocktail and Wine Bar
Lumen Bar is a beautiful place to have a drink, and if cocktails are your thing, you're in better hands than if you're leaning on the wine list. The atmosphere delivers; the wine program, based on what we can piece together, doesn't earn the same score. If wine matters to you, there are better spots within walking distance of Peachtree Street.

Il Giallo runs one of the more thoughtful Italian wine programs in Atlanta — 35 by-the-glass options with genuine regional range is rare, and the pricing stays fair across most of the list. If you're willing to skip the comfort picks and lean into the Sardinian whites or the Abruzzo reds, you'll drink very well here. Send a friend who actually likes Italian wine; tell the one who always orders Rombauer to sit down.

· Atlanta · Steakhouse
AG is a genuinely strange wine program for a steakhouse, and we mean that as a compliment — if you're the kind of person who knows the difference between a Late Harvest and a 5 Puttonyos Aszú, this list will surprise you. Come for the red meat, stay for the fortified wine flight you didn't know you needed.

Peachtree Hills · Atlanta · American / Bar
Taco Mac's wine list exists because legally it has to, not because anyone cared to build it. If you're here for the wings and the game, order a beer — that's what this place does well. The wine program is a Lazy List in every sense: overpriced for what's in the glass, staffed by a rotating crew unlikely to talk you through it, and assembled without a single interesting choice.

· New Braunfels · Wine bar and bottle shop
A deliberately small list that earns your trust with fair prices and genuine variety — this is what a neighborhood bottle shop wine program should look like. If you're passing through New Braunfels and want a real glass of wine without paying restaurant-markup prices, this is the move.

Bay Grape is the bottle shop you wish was in your neighborhood — a tight, genuinely considered list priced by people who respect your wallet. If you're anywhere near Oakland and care about drinking something interesting, this is a stop worth making.

Capitol Hill · Seattle · Wine bar and bottle shop
Doe Bay is the rare wine bar where the bottle shop credibility actually transfers to the glass program — staff knows what's on the shelf, the pricing respects your intelligence, and the Orcas Island origin story gives it a soul most Capitol Hill spots lack. Send your wine-curious friends here without hesitation.
