Wingman Metrics
The Gulf views are genuinely stunning and the vibe is exactly what Clearwater Beach promises — salty air, live music, cold drinks. Then you look at the wine list and realize the ocean is doing all the heavy lifting here. This is a cocktail bar that happens to stock a few bottles of Woodbridge.
The entire wine program is two brands deep: Woodbridge for your house pours and Josh Cellars when you want to feel fancy. That's it. No regions outside California, no whites worth getting excited about, no attempt at matching the coastal seafood menu with anything remotely interesting. If you handed this list to a wine buyer, they'd assume it was a placeholder that never got updated.
You're looking at six to ten pours that read like the wine aisle at a gas station — house Woodbridge Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Cabernet, and Merlot, with Josh Cellars stepping in as the 'premium' tier. At $7–$11 a glass, the prices are honest enough, but there's no rotation, no seasonal thinking, no reason to order a second glass over a rum punch.
Josh Cellars Sauvignon Blanc — $11/glass
If you're eating oysters or grouper and need something cold and crisp, this is your least-bad option on the list. It's not exciting, but it's clean and light enough to not fight the seafood.
Josh Cellars Chardonnay
Relative to the Woodbridge house pour sitting next to it, Josh steps up noticeably — a little more body, less cardboard finish. Most people at Salty's are ordering cocktails, so if wine is your thing, this is the quiet upgrade that costs maybe a dollar more and drinks considerably better.
Woodbridge Merlot
Ordering a room-temperature Merlot at a beachside bar on a Florida afternoon is a choice, and not a good one. Even at $7 a glass, there are better ways to spend it here — and better things to drink.
Josh Cellars Sauvignon Blanc + Oysters
It's not Muscadet, but the Sauv Blanc's citrus and lighter body at least give the oysters some breathing room without drowning them in oak and butter. Sometimes the best pairing is just getting out of the way.
❌ The Bottom Line
Come for the view, the crab legs, and whatever the bartender is shaking — the wine list is an afterthought and should be treated as one. If wine is why you're going out tonight, Salty's is not your spot.
Westshore · Clearwater · Fine-dining steakhouse
The Capital Grille is a reliable machine — the wine program is competent, well-staffed, and properly executed, but the markups are steep and the list plays it extremely safe. Send a friend here for a business dinner, but tell them to order Jordan before anyone at the table reaches for the Opus One.

Clearwater vicinity · Clearwater · Upscale steakhouse with seafood and extensive wine program
Fleming's is a reliable machine — excellent execution, real wine depth by-the-glass, staff that knows the list, and no surprises in a bad way. Just don't expect discovery; expect comfort, and budget accordingly for markup.

Indian Rocks Beach · Clearwater · Seafood / American
Guppy's won't win any awards for adventurous curation, but the list is fairly priced, thoughtfully stocked for a seafood crowd, and broad enough that everyone at the table finds something. Send a friend here for the grouper and tell them to drink the Cloudy Bay.

Belleair Bluffs · Clearwater · American Steakhouse
E&E Stakeout Grill is a perfectly decent neighborhood steakhouse wine list that asks too much on most nights — but Wine Wednesday flips the math entirely and makes this one of the better value plays in the Clearwater area. Come on a Wednesday, order the Chianti Classico, and you'll have zero complaints.

Clearwater Beach · Clearwater · Mediterranean and Mexican-inspired wine bar and bistro
This is the best wine program you're likely to find within walking distance of Clearwater Beach, and that's not faint praise — it's a genuine destination for the wine-curious crowd that usually has to settle for whatever's on draft. Wednesday's half-price U.S. bottle deal seals it: show up, order spaghetti, drink better than you planned.

Carrabba's Clearwater is a solid, honest chain wine program — fair prices, recognizable producers, nothing offensive. Send a friend here if they want Italian comfort food and an easy bottle of Chianti; don't send them if they're hoping to find something worth talking about.
