RagingWine reviewed Salt & Pepper Cafe’s wine list and gave it The Lazy List — RagingWine’s Vibe-Check rating. How RagingWine reviews wine lists →
Wingman Metrics
Four wines. That's the whole list. Schmitt Sohne, Joel Gott, Oyster Bay, Carmel Road — these are the kinds of bottles you grab at Kroger when you forgot to plan ahead. There's no evidence anyone at Salt & Pepper Cafe has spent meaningful time thinking about wine.
The list reads like a greatest-hits of grocery store endcaps: a mass-market German Riesling, a California Chardonnay that's ubiquitous for a reason (convenience, not quality), a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc that every casual diner already knows, and a Carmel Road Cab rounding out the reds. Zero regional representation, zero independent producers, zero ambition. With only four labels and no pricing disclosed on the beverage page, it's impossible to evaluate value — but the lineup itself signals that wine is an afterthought here, not a priority.
Glass pour availability is not confirmed on the website, and with a list this small, the format is anyone's guess. Whether these four bottles are offered by the glass, bottle, or some combination, the ceiling is low regardless. There's no rotation happening here.
The Bottom Line
If you're heading to Salt & Pepper Cafe, go for the food and order a cocktail. With four grocery-tier wines, no disclosed pricing, and no sign of a curated approach, the wine program exists in name only. This is a Lazy List — not necessarily the restaurant's fault if wine isn't the point, but it's not the place to drink well.

Henry's Louisiana Grill isn't trying to be a wine destination, and that's fine — the list is priced fairly, every bottle is available by the glass, and the Mucho Mas and Ste. Michelle Riesling give curious drinkers something to work with. If you're in Acworth and want a no-stress glass of wine with your dinner, this gets the job done without embarrassing anyone.

Fish Thyme earns a Reliable badge on the strength of its reputation as a legit neighborhood seafood destination — the food sounds genuinely good, and the atmosphere is right for a proper dinner out. But we don't have enough verified wine data to give you confident bottle-by-bottle advice, so check the list when you arrive, lean toward whites, and ask your server what's open and drinking well that night.

1885 Grill Acworth plays it safe and mostly gets away with it — fair pricing on a short, approachable list that will keep the table happy without making anyone think too hard. If you're after a serious wine experience, keep driving; if you just want a solid glass with dinner in the suburbs, you'll leave without complaints.

Riverstone Corner Bistro isn't trying to be a wine destination, but it's doing something quietly impressive: stocking a wine list with genuine range, pricing it fairly, and making nearly all of it available by the glass. For Canton, GA, that's not a small thing. If you're in the area and care even a little about what's in your glass, this is your spot.

Brookwood Grill's wine list is a reliable, if uninspired, companion to a solid suburban dinner out. If you stick to the more interesting picks — the Hermit Crab Viognier, the Orin Swift, the Catena Malbec — you'll drink well enough. Just don't come here expecting discovery; come here expecting comfort.

Union Hill Grill earns its Reliable badge by doing what it sets out to do: give Canton diners a long, approachable wine list dominated by names they already trust. The markup is steep in spots (Caymus at $38/glass, we see you), and there's no adventure to be found outside of California and the occasional Malbec. But Chehalem on a by-the-glass list in Cherokee County? We'll take the win where we can find it.
