Wingman Metrics
The wine list lands exactly where you'd expect at a Ruth's Chris — heavy on Napa, heavy on names you recognize, and heavy on your wallet. It's a greatest hits album: Silver Oak, Cakebread, Rombauer, Jordan. Nobody's taking risks here, and that's kind of the point.
Somewhere between 80 and 120 labels, the list leans hard into California — Napa Cab dominates, with Sonoma getting a supporting role and classic French sparkling making a brief cameo via Veuve Clicquot. Producers like Duckhorn, Belle Glos, and The Prisoner fill out the roster, which reads less like a curated cellar and more like a safe steakhouse shortlist from 2015. There's nothing wrong with any of these wines — they're crowd favorites for a reason — but you won't find anything adventurous, obscure, or particularly exciting. Bordeaux and Burgundy fans will find the Old World section thin.
With 18–25 by-the-glass options, the pour program is one of the stronger parts of the list — there's actually enough range here to find something decent without committing to a bottle. Prices run $13–$25 a glass, which is standard Ruth's Chris territory but still stings when you do the math on a full pour of Rombauer. Rotation doesn't appear to be a priority; expect the same familiar faces visit after visit.
Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley — $140
At 115% over retail it's still expensive, but Jordan is actually drinkable tonight — it's not an age-it-for-a-decade Napa Cab. Relative to the rest of the list, it's the least punishing bottle if you're dropping $140 on red wine with a steak.
Belle Glos Pinot Noir
Everyone at a steakhouse reaches for the Cab, but Belle Glos Pinot holds its own against a filet. It's richer and darker than most Pinots, which makes it actually work at a beef-forward table — and it's likely one of the less-ordered bottles on the list.
Cakebread Cellars Chardonnay
At $120 a bottle — a 150% markup over ~$48 retail — Cakebread is the clearest example of paying the name tax here. It's a fine wine. It is not a $120 wine. Save yourself the math and order something else.
Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley + Ribeye steak
Silver Oak's signature vanilla-and-dark-fruit profile was essentially engineered for a sizzling ribeye. The fat in the cut softens the tannins; the oak integration holds up to all that char. It's a cliché for a reason — it works.
Sunday — Selected bottles are offered at half price in the bar on Sundays. Specific labels included in the promotion vary by date — ask your server when you arrive.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Ruth's Chris Naperville is a reliable execution of a familiar formula: great steaks, solid wine list, pricing that assumes you're on an expense account. The Sunday half-price wine special in the bar is the only reason to get creative about when you show up.
Downtown Naperville · Naperville · American pub / burgers
Jackson Avenue Pub is not a wine destination, but Wine Wednesdays at half-price make it a legitimately smart stop if you're already there for a burger and a game. Come for the beer, stay for the deal.

Hugo's Naperville is a reliable, well-run steakhouse wine program that will not let you down and will not excite you. Come for the prime beef and oysters, order the Jordan or the Duckhorn, and don't look too hard at the markup on the Pinot Grigio.

Fat Rosie's is a genuinely fun taco and tequila spot that has no business being reviewed for its wine — and that's kind of the point. If your table wants wine, order cocktails instead and save everyone the disappointment.

Vasili's isn't trying to be a wine destination, but the Greek-focused list has enough genuine producers and interesting grapes to reward curious drinkers — especially on Tuesdays when the bottles go half-price. Watch the markups on the Agiorgitiko, lean into the northern Greek reds and the Malagousia, and you'll eat and drink very well along that riverwalk.

Lou Malnati's is a legitimately iconic pizza destination — but the wine list is an afterthought, marked up on cheap bottles with zero curation or ambition. Come for the deep dish, drink beer, and save the wine night for somewhere that cares.

Che Figata is the rare suburban hotel restaurant with a wine list worth actually engaging with — Italian-focused, sommelier-guided, and broad enough to reward exploration. The markups sting on a few bottles, but the range and program depth make this the best wine bet in Naperville's CityGate orbit.
