Tequila First, Wine Very Much Second

You open the menu at Rocco's Tacos and the wine list feels like it was assembled by someone who shops exclusively at airport duty-free. Twelve labels, all recognizable, none interesting. The real star here is tequila — and the wine list knows it.
This is a greatest hits compilation for people who don't really want to think about wine: Josh Cab, Kim Crawford, La Crema Pinot, Decoy Merlot. Every label is something you've seen at a chain restaurant, a grocery store end-cap, or your cousin's wedding. There's a token nod to bubbles via Chandon splits and a Veuve Clicquot bottle, and Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio makes its obligatory appearance. No surprises, no regional depth, no attempt to lean into Mexican wine culture — not a single Spanish or Mexican producer in sight, which feels like a missed opportunity given the concept.
All 12 bottles are available by the glass, which sounds generous until you realize the list is only 12 bottles deep — so that's just the whole list. Pours run $10–$18, which is fine for the party-bar atmosphere but not for what's actually in your glass. There's no rotation, no seasonal program, nothing to come back for.
Hampton Water Rosé — $13
Jon Bon Jovi's Languedoc rosé is genuinely drinkable and lands at the lower end of the by-the-glass range. It's lighter and more food-friendly than anything else on this list, and it won't embarrass you at the table.
Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio Alto Adige
Yes, it's ubiquitous. But in a room full of oaky California reds and sweet Merlot, this is actually the most food-friendly option on the list — it's clean, mineral-driven, and cuts through guacamole and street tacos far better than a Josh Cab ever will. Most people skip it because they've seen it everywhere. That's your opening.
Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label
At $90 a bottle in a loud taco cantina, you're paying full retail or above for the privilege of drinking it out of whatever glass they hand you. Pop it somewhere that will treat it right.
Hampton Water Rosé + Tableside Guacamole
The rosé's dry, citrusy profile stands up to lime and jalapeño without getting steamrolled. It's the one combo on this list that actually makes sense together.
❌ The Bottom Line
Rocco's Tacos is a great tequila bar with a wine list that exists only because restaurants feel obligated to have one. Order a margarita and be happy about it — if you insist on wine, keep it simple and keep it cheap.
The Square / Downtown · West Palm Beach · Italian trattoria
Il Bellagio is a perfectly decent place to drink Italian wine with Italian food on a warm West Palm Beach evening — just don't expect the list to surprise you, and steer clear of the Santa Margherita markup. Order the Chianti, grab a table on the plaza, and call it a reliable night out.

PLANTA West Palm Beach won't disappoint you on wine, but it won't thrill you either — the list is safe, the markups are mostly steep, and the picks are designed for consensus. Come for the food, order the Whispering Angel, and don't overthink it.

The Square / Downtown · West Palm Beach · Tuscan-inspired Italian, coastal Italian
Felice earns its keep with a genuinely Italy-focused list, a Tignanello markup that won't make you wince, and a Monday wine program that should be on your weekly calendar. Not groundbreaking, but reliably good — and in this neighborhood, that's not nothing.

Abe & Louie's is a dependable, well-stocked steakhouse wine program with real depth and knowledgeable staff — it just charges accordingly and rarely colors outside the lines. Send a friend here for a serious bottle of Cab with a prime steak, but tell them to ask the sommelier to find something off the beaten path.

Grato is a reliable wine list for a neighborhood Italian that punches above its weight in by-the-glass options and producer selection — just know the markups skew steep on anything recognizable. Send a friend here for the Pinot and the pasta, not the prestige bottles.

West Palm Beach · West Palm Beach · Wine bar with global small plates
The Blind Monk is the kind of place West Palm Beach didn't know it needed — a genuine natural wine bar with a thoughtful list and a low-key atmosphere that makes you want to stay for another pour. The markups keep it from being a true Rager, but as a Wild Card in a city not exactly known for its wine culture, it absolutely earns a visit.

Rocco's is a genuinely fun restaurant — just not a wine destination by any stretch. Drink the tequila, enjoy the guac, and save your wine ambitions for somewhere that shares them.

Pablo's is a solid taco spot that treats wine as a legal obligation rather than a point of pride. Order the margarita, enjoy the tacos, and if you must have wine, grab the Masi and call it a night.
