Pizza's Great, Wine List Didn't Try

RagingWine reviewed Pisano's Pizzeria & Italian Kitchen’s wine list and gave it The Lazy List — RagingWine’s Vibe-Check rating. How RagingWine reviews wine lists →
Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Pisano's is exactly what you'd expect from a neighborhood pizza spot that decided wine was a box to check rather than a thing to care about. Twenty-three labels sounds like a real list until you realize it's mostly grocery-store staples with a couple of Italian names sprinkled in for credibility. It's functional, nothing more.
The red side leans on Kendall Jackson Cabernet, Mark West Pinot Noir, and Gentle Creek Merlot — brands you'd find on the bottom shelf at any Kroger. There are glimmers of intention: the Frescobaldi Remole Tuscan Blend and Gabbiano Chianti Classico are at least pointing toward Italy, where the food is coming from. The Art of Earth Montepulciano D'Abruzzo is the one genuine regional nod on the list, and it deserves credit for existing. Whites are similarly unadventurous — KJ Chardonnay, Seaglass Pinot Grigio, and a White Zinfandel that suggests the list hasn't been revisited since 2009.
We don't have confirmed by-the-glass breakdowns from the sourced menu, so we can't tell you exactly what's available as a pour versus bottle-only. Given the list's profile, expect the usual suspects to be available by the glass. The Aperol Spritz, Bellini, and Mimosa options suggest the restaurant is leaning into cocktail-adjacent wine service rather than building a serious pour program.
The Bottom Line
Pisano's wine list exists to say they have a wine list — it's not here to impress you or help you drink better. If you're eating here, order the Gabbiano Chianti Classico or the Montepulciano, skip everything else, and save your serious wine curiosity for a night you've made a reservation somewhere that cares. The pizza might be great; the wine program is an afterthought.

Bernie's isn't trying to be a wine destination, and it doesn't need to be — what it does is offer a clean, fairly priced list where the Dr. Loosen Riesling alone is worth the stop. If you're in Kennesaw and want a decent glass without paying downtown Atlanta markups, this does the job honestly.

The Melting Pot Kennesaw isn't going to win any wine destination awards, but the list is fairly priced, the by-the-glass count is legitimately high, and a couple of picks — the Albariño and the Mosel Spätlese — show someone made at least a few thoughtful calls. If you're coming for fondue, you can drink well here without overpaying.

Mamma Onesta's isn't a destination wine list, but it's a reliable one for a relaxed dinner in Canton — especially if you hit it on a Wednesday when Chianti gets cheaper. The food-forward room, owner presence, and fair-leaning pricing make this a solid neighborhood call; just don't show up expecting buried treasure.

Bicicletta runs a tidy, well-priced wine list that doesn't try to be everything — and it's better for it. The Italian white selection has real regional depth, the by-the-glass program is generous, and the pricing won't make you wince. Red wine lovers may find the options thin, but for everyone else, this is a reliable neighborhood Italian spot that actually thought about wine.

Pasta Max Cafe isn't trying to win a wine program award — it's trying to get you a glass of something decent while your linguine arrives. On those terms, it succeeds. Bottle prices top out at $40 and most pours land under $8, so if you're eating here anyway, you won't feel robbed at the wine column.
