You don't expect to find Raúl Pérez wine dinners in Canandaigua, New York — and yet here we are. Pintxo comes in swinging with a focused, unapologetically Spanish list that has clearly been built by someone who actually cares. The room is cozy and intimate, which matches the list: not sprawling, but every pour feels intentional.
The list leans hard into Castilla y León, which is either a limitation or a superpower depending on how you feel about Bierzo Mencía and Gredos Garnacha — we happen to think both are criminally underrated. Rueda Verdejo, Ribera del Duero reds, and the rare Albarín from Villamañán round out a regional deep dive that most wine bars in major cities wouldn't bother attempting. The Raúl Pérez connection is the real signal here: when a bar is pulling in one of Spain's most celebrated cult producers for a wine dinner, the person running this program knows exactly what they're doing. The list sits around 40-70 bottles, which feels right — focused beats bloated every time.
With 12-20 pours by the glass in the $12-$18 range, there's enough to explore without decision fatigue. The glass program appears to rotate with the regional focus, so what you see tonight might not be here next month — that's a feature, not a bug. It rewards repeat visits and keeps things fresh.
Verdejo from Rueda — $14
Rueda Verdejo is one of the most food-friendly white wines in the world and it's still flying under the radar price-wise. At this range, it's the smartest pour on the list — crisp, herbal, and built for the tapas menu.
Albarín from Villamañán
Almost nobody outside of a narrow band of Spanish wine obsessives can tell you what Albarín is, which is exactly why you should order it. An indigenous white grape from Castilla y León that rarely makes it onto American lists — this is the kind of pour that makes the whole trip worth it.
Red wines from Ribera del Duero
Ribera del Duero is the most famous name on this list and probably the most marked-up for it. The Bierzo and Gredos options are more interesting and likely better value — save Ribera for when it's the specific thing you're after.
Mencía from Bierzo + Charcuterie and cheese board
Bierzo Mencía has this dark-fruited, earthy, slightly mineral quality that cuts right through cured meats and aged cheeses without overwhelming them. It's one of Spain's great food wines and it's exactly what you want next to a charcuterie spread.
🎲 The Bottom Line
Pintxo is punching well above its weight class for a small-city wine bar, and the Spanish regional focus gives it a genuine identity that most places never find. If you're anywhere near the Finger Lakes and care even a little about wine, this one's worth the detour.

Rose Tavern is a perfectly pleasant place to drink wine if you're already staying at The Lake House — the setting does a lot of the work. But if you're driving in specifically for the wine list, you'd do better hitting a dedicated Finger Lakes tasting room down the road.

Barcelona Wine Bar West Hartford isn't breaking any new ground, but it's doing exactly what a neighborhood Iberian wine bar should do: give you access to a focused, fairly priced Spanish list in a room that actually wants you to drink it. Send a friend here on a Monday and tell them to verify the bottle deal before they go.
