The wine list at Open Range is short — 14 labels — and it reads exactly like what you'd expect from a Western-themed steakhouse in Sedona: California-forward, approachable, and built to move bottles without anyone asking too many questions. There's nothing here that demands your attention, but there's also nothing embarrassing about it.
California dominates, with Napa Cab, Sonoma Chardonnay, and Central Coast Pinot Noir making up the backbone. ZD Wines gets a surprising amount of real estate, with four labels including their 2022 Chardonnay, 2022 Sauvignon Blanc, 2021 Pinot Noir, and 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon — a coherent producer focus that adds a little credibility. There's a token nod to Argentina via the Paul Hobbs Vina Cobos Felino Malbec, which is a solid pick, and Italy and Germany get brief mentions elsewhere. Don't come here hunting for Burgundy or natural wine — this list was written for steak drinkers who want a safe, familiar name.
With all 14 labels available by the glass, there's no guessing game about what's open. Glass pours run from $10.99 to $29.99, which is a reasonable spread for a tourist-heavy Sedona steakhouse. Rotation doesn't appear to be a priority — this looks like a set-it list with no seasonal tinkering.
Paul Hobbs Vina Cobos Felino Malbec Argentina — By the glass
Paul Hobbs has serious credibility in Mendoza, and the Felino label punches well above its station. It's the most interesting bottle on the list and likely one of the more fairly priced — a smart pour for anyone ordering red meat.
ZD Wines 2022 Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley
Most people at a steakhouse walk right past the Sauvignon Blanc. ZD's Napa SB is a less-common style — richer and more structured than the typical New Zealand version — and it's a genuinely interesting glass that almost no one at this restaurant is ordering.
ZD Wines Abacus XXV Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
At $749.99, the Abacus XXV is a trophy bottle sitting on a steakhouse wine list in the middle of the Arizona desert. It's a blended-vintage library wine that deserves better context than this. Unless you're celebrating something significant and already know what Abacus is, this is a very expensive gamble on storage and occasion.
ZD Wines 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley + Grilled ribeye
ZD's Napa Cab has the structure and dark fruit weight to stand up to a well-marbled ribeye without getting lost. It's the most food-serious wine on the list and the obvious move for anyone ordering red meat and wanting something beyond the usual suspects.

Open Range isn't a wine destination, but it's not trying to be — it's a Sedona steakhouse with a tight, honest list that does its job without embarrassing itself or emptying your wallet. Go for the views, order the Malbec or ZD Cab, and call it a win.

The Hudson's wine lounge is a reliable, comfortable spot that plays it safe and plays it well — you won't be surprised, but you won't be disappointed either.
