Worcester's Best Steak Deserves a Better List

The wine list at One Eleven reads exactly like you'd expect from a polished New England steakhouse: heavy on California, safe bets throughout, and prices that remind you this is a special-occasion room. It's a serious list by Worcester standards, and the Award of Excellence nod from Wine Spectator is real — but don't expect to be surprised.
Around 120–180 bottles land mostly in California's greatest hits drawer — Napa Cabs, Sonoma Chardonnays, a few Oregon Pinot Noirs — with some gestures toward France, Italy, New Zealand, and Washington State. The Doubleback Cabernet from Walla Walla (a WE 96) is the most interesting bottle on the list, and the Beringer Private Reserve Napa Cab from 2018 (a JS 98) shows someone was paying attention when they bought it. Beyond those two, the list leans hard on familiar labels: Rombauer, Whispering Angel, Santa Margherita, Duckhorn — all perfectly respectable, none particularly adventurous. France gets a nod via Trimbach Riesling and Provence rosé, but there's no real Burgundy depth, no Rhône to speak of, and the Italian section appears to top out at Cantina Gabriele Moscato.
The by-the-glass program runs 18–22 options at $12–$25, which is a solid count for a steakhouse in this market. Belle Glos 'Dairyman' Pinot Noir and Rombauer Chardonnay by the glass are genuine crowd wins, and Red Schooner Malbec is a pleasant curveball. Rotation appears minimal — this list looks like it gets set and left alone for a season at a time.
Trimbach Riesling, France, 2022 — $27–$45 (bottle)
Trimbach Alsatian Riesling is the rare bottle on this list that punches well above its price point in a steakhouse context. It's dry, precise, and genuinely food-friendly — a smarter move than the sixth Chardonnay option, and almost certainly the least-ordered white on the menu.
Doubleback Cabernet Sauvignon, Walla Walla Valley, 2022
A WE 96-point Washington Cab buried on a list dominated by Napa names — most tables will walk right past it. Drew Bledsoe's Walla Walla project consistently outperforms its price and has the structure to stand up to a ribeye without flinching. Worth the ask.
Whispering Angel Rosé, Provence, 2024
It's everywhere, the markup on it is rarely kind, and at a steakhouse it's mainly ordered by people who forgot they were at a steakhouse. There are better bottles on this list for the money.
Beringer 'Private Reserve' Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa, 2018 + Prime Ribeye
A JS 98 Napa Cab with six years of age on it meets the fat and char of a prime ribeye exactly where they both need to be. The wine has had time to settle into something genuinely special, and the ribeye gives it something worth working against. This is the pairing that justifies the price of the room.
✔️ The Bottom Line
One Eleven is doing right by Worcester — the list is real, a few bottles are genuinely excellent, and the room earns the prices it charges for the experience. But if you're coming for the wine specifically, know that you're here for the Doubleback or the Beringer Private Reserve, not the journey of discovery.

Willy's delivers a competent, crowd-friendly wine list that matches its supper-club DNA — no one's going home disappointed, but no one's going home inspired either. If you're in Worcester and want a solid glass with a prime steak, it does the job; just don't come here for the wine list.

The Fix earns its reputation on the burger side of the menu — the wine list is just not part of that story. Come for the food, order the beer, and save the bottle for another night.

111 Chop House Bar is doing exactly what it set out to do — give Worcester a place to order trophy Napa bottles alongside a prime cut. The markups sting and the list won't surprise anyone, but if you know what you're looking for, you'll find it.

Dino's isn't a wine destination — it's a red-sauce neighborhood classic that happens to have an unexpectedly serious Port program tucked at the back of the menu. Come for the Chicken Parm, stay for the Taylor Fladgate.

Vejigante isn't a wine destination, but it's not trying to be — and for a vibrant Puerto Rican restaurant in downtown Worcester, the list is more thoughtful than you'd expect. Grab the Riesling, enjoy the mofongo, and don't overthink it.
