First Impression
Oak Steakhouse brings Indigo Road Hospitality's Charleston sensibility to the Avalon district and the wine list reflects that pedigree. It is organized, approachable, and priced like the operators actually want you to order a second glass. No pretension, no sticker shock — just a well-curated steakhouse program.
Selection Deep Dive
The list leans California and Old World without apology. Whites run from a crisp Dawn Chorus Sauvignon Blanc to a proper Decoy Limited Chardonnay. The reds tell the real story — Bordeaux shows up via Chateau Cissac, Super Tuscan fans get Avignonesi Grifi, and the Cab lineup climbs from Robert Hall at $13 a glass to Clos du Val at $25. Oregon gets a nod with J. Christopher Basalte Pinot Noir. No glaring gaps, no filler brands.
By the Glass
Nineteen wines by the glass is generous for any steakhouse, and the range from $12 to $29 means there is something for every budget at the table. Sparkling options include both a Prosecco and a Piper-Sonoma Brut Rosé. The lone rosé is a solid Conde Valdemar. We appreciate that the reds alone offer eight pours spanning Pinot Noir through Cab Sauv and even a Leviathan red blend.
Familia Mayol Malbec — $12/glass
A twelve-dollar Malbec by the glass at a steakhouse that does not taste like an afterthought. Rich, ripe, and built for a ribeye. This is the quiet winner on the list.
Avignonesi Grifi Super Tuscan
At $18 a glass this Tuscan blend from a storied Montepulciano producer is the kind of pour that makes you rethink your automatic Cab order. Structured and savory with real depth.
Charles Le Bel Champagne
At $29 a glass the math gets ugly fast. For a celebration, spring for a bottle from the list instead — per-glass Champagne pricing at restaurants is rarely your friend.
Clos du Val Cabernet Sauvignon + Bone-In Ribeye
Classic Napa Cab meets classic steakhouse cut. Clos du Val has the tannin structure and dark fruit to stand up to the char and fat without bulldozing the beef.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Oak Steakhouse delivers a steakhouse wine program that respects your palate and your wallet. The by-the-glass lineup alone makes it worth a visit, and the Indigo Road team clearly knows what belongs next to a steak.
