Wingman Metrics
Ten labels total. That's it. You flip through the wine section at Apt 4B and it reads less like a curated list and more like a brand deal roster — celebrity-backed bottles front and center, with almost no sense that anyone here is thinking seriously about wine. The Caribbean-inspired kitchen deserves better company than this.
The list leans hard on recognizable brand names over actual quality: McBride Sisters, Charles Woodson's Intercept, Sun Goddess (Mary J. Blige's label), and La Fête Rosé. These aren't bad wines, but they're marketing plays first and selections second. There's no meaningful regional exploration, no old-world representation, and zero tension or surprise anywhere on the list. The sparkling section is just Moët and Chandon Brut — which is, awkwardly, basically the same house twice. With only 10 labels and a hard ceiling of $175 a bottle, the ceiling is also the floor.
Nine of the ten bottles are available by the glass, which sounds generous until you realize the list is only ten deep to begin with. Every pour lands at a flat $14, which tells you less about the wine and more about the pricing model. There's no rotation, no seasonal additions, no sense that the BTG program is doing anything other than coasting.
McBride Sisters Black Girl Magic Riesling 2019 — $14
If you're going to drink here, this is the most interesting pour on the list. The McBride Sisters actually know what they're doing with this wine — it's off-dry with enough texture to hold up against spiced, Caribbean-leaning dishes. At $14 a glass, it's the one pick that earns its place.
Sun Goddess Pinot Grigio
Most people at this spot are gravitating toward the red blends or the bubbles, but the Sun Goddess Pinot Grigio is quietly the most food-friendly white on the list. It won't blow your mind, but it's clean, light, and actually works with the brighter flavors you'd expect from Caribbean-inspired cooking.
Moët Chandon Brut
Moët at restaurant markup is almost always a trap, and it's a trap here. You're paying a significant premium for a bottle that costs $40 at any wine shop, purely for the name recognition. The Chandon Brut — same house, California expression — is on the same list and will almost certainly cost you less for something functionally similar.
McBride Sisters Black Girl Magic Riesling 2019 + Jerk-spiced protein (per menu concept)
The slight residual sugar in the Riesling acts as a buffer against heat and spice — classic move that actually works here. If the kitchen is leaning into jerk seasoning or any chili-forward preparation, this is the one glass on the list doing real work.
The Bottom Line
Apt 4B is a vibe-first spot where the wine list feels like an afterthought that got handed to a brand manager. Come for the food and the atmosphere — but if wine matters to you, order a cocktail instead.

Kinship is the Wild Card badge in its purest form: a butcher shop and sandwich counter moonlighting as a legitimate wine destination, with a sommelier on staff and a tasting menu that'll run you $325 a head. Come for the meat, stay because the wine list earned it.
