Solid steak house list, no surprises

The wine list at NANDO reads like a greatest hits compilation for a steakhouse crowd — Caymus, Catena, Sonoma Cutrer. Nothing here is going to surprise you, but it's clearly built to sell bottles to people who already know what they like. That's not a crime, but it does cap the ceiling pretty hard.
California and Argentina dominate, with a reasonable nod to France via the Le Château Loudenne Médoc and Italy via Sassoregale Tenuta. The New World leans heavily on familiar names — Doña Paula, Catena, Caymus — which will please the 'I'll have the cab' crowd but leaves adventurous drinkers with thin pickings. There's a flash of intrigue with the Bodegas Frontonio Microcósmico Macabeo — a Spanish white from Aragón that has absolutely no business being on this list, in the best possible way. The overall range is about 40-60 labels, which is adequate for the format, but depth in any single region is shallow.
The glass program looks to run 10-16 options, covering the expected bases — a Chardonnay, a Pinot Noir, a Cab, probably a Prosecco. The Sonoma Cutrer Chardonnay and La Forestina Extra Dry Prosecco appear to anchor the white side, while the Cherry Hill Estate Pinot Noir handles the lighter red slot. At an estimated $12-$18 a glass, you're paying steakhouse rates, so choose carefully.
Catena Malbec — $45
Catena is a benchmark Mendoza producer making genuinely good wine at a price that doesn't humiliate you. On a steakhouse list that trends expensive, this is the move if you want something that over-delivers for the dollar and actually loves red meat.
Bodegas Frontonio Microcósmico Macabeo
A Spanish white from old-vine Macabeo in Aragón — textured, mineral, and nothing like the Chardonnay everyone else at the table is ordering. Most people walk right past it, which means you get to look like you know something they don't.
Caymus 50th Anniversary Cabernet Sauvignon
Caymus is a fine wine, but it is one of the most marked-up bottles in American restaurants. The 50th Anniversary edition amplifies that problem — you're paying a premium for a label that's become a status play more than a value proposition. There are better cabs for less money on this very list.
Le Château Loudenne Médoc + Wood-fired steak
A Médoc has the structure and earthy backbone to stand up to char and fat from the wood fire without trying to overpower it. It's a classic combo that actually earns the cliché — Bordeaux and beef exist on this planet for a reason.
✔️ The Bottom Line
NANDO is a dependable steakhouse wine list that does its job without embarrassing itself or exciting you. If you know your order before you sit down, you'll find something that works — just don't expect the list to take you anywhere new.
West Side · Evansville · Italian-American / Pizza
Turoni's is a great neighborhood pizza spot that happens to have wine on the menu, not a wine destination that also serves pizza. Come for the food and the house-brewed beer; treat the $4.99 Lambrusco as a pleasant bonus, not the reason you're here.

Newburgh Road · Evansville · Italian-American / Pizza
Turoni's is a great pizza spot and a solid craft beer destination — the wine list is neither of those things. Order the Lambrusco if you're committed to the bit, then let the beer menu do the real work.

Turoni's is a great neighborhood pizza spot with a legitimate craft beer program — come for the pies and the pints, not the wine. If you need a glass of something, the $4.99 price tag makes it painless, but don't expect anything beyond the basics.

BJ's Evansville is a brewpub, full stop — the wine list is a courtesy offering for the table members who don't drink beer, not a destination in itself. If you're going, go on a Thursday, order the Meiomi or the Kim Crawford at half price, and let everyone else worry about the craft tap list.

Bar Louie Evansville is a fine place to grab a beer or a cocktail — the wine list is an afterthought dressed up in a laminated menu. Come on a Thursday, order the rosé, and call it a win.

LongHorn's wine list is the dining equivalent of a screensaver — it's technically there, it moves occasionally, but nobody's really watching it. Come for the steak, order the La Crema if you want wine, and keep your expectations where the decor suggests they should be.

2Johns is the rare steakhouse where the wine program actually earns attention — and on Sunday, Monday, or Wednesday, it earns a reservation. If you're in the Shreveport-Bossier area and you time your visit right, this is legitimately one of the better wine value plays in the region.

B. Christopher's is a dependable wine stop for a classic steakhouse experience — just go on a Wednesday when the bottle prices get cut in half and the math finally makes sense. If you're craving Caymus with a ribeye and an expense account, you'll be happy; if you want exploration, this isn't your room.

Duane's is a beautiful room inside a landmark hotel, and it deserves a wine list as thoughtful as its surroundings — this isn't it. If you're here for a special occasion, budget accordingly, lean toward Champagne or Merlot, and don't let the leather binder convince you you're getting a deal.
