Little Havana Energy on Peachtree Street. The Wine List Missed the Party.

Mojitos is one of the best nights out in Norcross. The family-owned Cuban bistro has been running for over 15 years on S. Peachtree Street, and on a Friday or Saturday night with the live band going, the place has genuine Little Havana energy. Ropa vieja braised low and slow in traditional Cuban sauce. A proper Cuban sandwich on authentic pressed bread. Paella loaded with scallops, calamari, shrimp, mussels, and plantains. The ox tails in red wine sauce are a sleeper hit. Add weekend salsa nights, a dance floor that actually gets used, and a cocktail menu anchored by the namesake mojitos, and you have a neighborhood restaurant that punches well above its zip code.
The wine list is an afterthought. A handful of generic options with no connection to the food, no interesting Spanish or South American bottles that would pair naturally with Cuban cuisine, and no sign that anyone involved in the beverage program has thought about wine of the experience. Storage follows the same pattern many Norcross spots: bottles above the bar where the heat from the kitchen and the lighting keeps them perpetually warm. The glassware is basic. A restaurant this good, with food this flavorful, could do remarkable things with a short, focused list of Albariño, Tempranillo, Malbec, and dry rosé. Instead, wine drinkers get the minimum.
This one stings because everything else at Mojitos works. The food is authentic, the atmosphere is alive, the cocktail program is fun, and the ownership clearly cares about the dining experience. The wine list just never got any of that attention. Cuban cuisine is built for wine pairing: garlic, citrus, roasted pork, black beans, and plantains all cry out for something interesting in the glass. Stick with the mojitos and the live music. They have earned that reputation for a reason.
❌ The Bottom Line
Mojitos delivers one of the best Cuban dining experiences in metro Atlanta with live music, salsa nights, and family recipes worth driving for. But the wine list is lazy, warm, and disconnected from the food. Order the namesake cocktail, enjoy the Ropa Vieja, and save your wine expectations for somewhere else.

Avize is doing something genuinely rare in Atlanta: building a short wine list with actual conviction, pointed straight at the corners of Europe that deserve more attention. If you eat here and don't order something you've never heard of, you're doing it wrong.

By George is a fine place to drink wine if you know what you're walking into — a curated-but-safe list built for a stylish crowd that wants rosé and bubbles without friction. Come for the Crémant and the Tavel; don't expect to find anything that'll make you rethink your relationship with wine.

Nine Mile Station isn't a destination for wine nerds, but it's a perfectly decent place to drink something cold and recognizable while the Atlanta skyline does the heavy lifting. Come for the view, drink the Crémant, ignore the Rombauer.

Vin Atl is doing something most Atlanta wine bars aren't: curating a short list with genuine intention instead of padding it with safe bets. At these prices, it's worth a stop even if you only come for one bottle.

St. Julep is a place to drink wine, not a place to drink well. If you're here for the skyline and the scene, pour the rosé and enjoy it — just don't come expecting the list to surprise you.

The James Room is a cocktail bar first and a wine destination never — but the list is competent enough to get you through a bottle without frustration. Come for the atmosphere, order the Cava or the Sancerre, and let the cocktail menu handle the heavy lifting.

Son Cubano isn't a destination wine list, but it's a legitimately good one for what it is — a glamorous Cuban night out where the wine program doesn't embarrass the room. Send a friend who wants a fun evening with solid pours and a view; just steer them away from the Meiomi.

Mariel earns its Wine Spectator credential by being genuinely thoughtful about a list that could have easily phoned it in. If you're in Boston's Financial District and want something more interesting than another steakhouse Cab Franc, this is exactly the kind of wild card worth having in your back pocket.

Come to Kuba Kuba for the food, which genuinely earns its loyal following — but don't come here for the wine. Order a mojito, grab the Malbec if you must, and put your wine energy somewhere else.
