McCormick & Schmick's Seafood & Steaks – Harrah's Atlantic City

The wine list at McCormick & Schmick's inside Harrah's is exactly what you'd expect from a chain seafood restaurant bolted onto a casino floor — 23 labels, no surprises, and nothing that suggests anyone spent much time curating it. It's the kind of list designed to move bottles without starting any conversations. If you squint, you can almost see the corporate spreadsheet it was printed from.

Twenty-three labels split between 'Select' and 'Premium' tiers is a thin catalog for a full-service seafood and steakhouse concept, and the producers here — Robert Mondavi, Mark West, Sterling, Ecco Domani — are the wine-aisle regulars you've walked past a hundred times at Total Wine. There's no meaningful regional depth, no old-world representation beyond the dessert section, and nothing that suggests a buyer with an actual point of view. The one legitimately interesting corner of this list is the fortified wine section: Graham's 10, 20, and 30 Year Tawnies alongside a Taylor Fladgate LBV give the dessert program more dimension than anything in the main list. That's not a compliment to the main list.

Fifteen of 23 labels pour by the glass, which sounds generous until you realize most of them run $7–$9 — fine in isolation, but these are mass-market brands that retail for $10–$15 a bottle, so the math isn't doing you any favors. Rotation appears nonexistent; this looks like a static program refreshed on a seasonal or annual basis at best. The Miraval Rosé and Wairau River Sauvignon Blanc are the two pours worth considering if you need something with a pulse.
