The wine list at La Bodega reads like someone actually gave a damn about matching the program to the food — it's Spanish top to bottom, and that focus pays off. Forty to sixty bottles isn't enormous, but when everything points toward Iberia, the list feels cohesive rather than small. You're not going to find a random Napa Cab lurking here, and that's the right call.
The regional coverage hits the Spanish greatest hits without feeling lazy about it: Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Rías Baixas, and Cava all show up, which means you can drink white, red, sparkling, or fortified and stay firmly on theme. Marqués de Cáceres anchors the list as the recognizable workhorse producer, and at this price range, that's a defensible choice — they make reliably good wine and most guests recognize the label. What we'd love to see is a deeper dive into smaller producers from Galicia or a Bierzo or two to push the list from solid into something genuinely exciting. Sherry also reportedly features, and if that's true, it's the most underrated move on the menu.
Ten to sixteen pours by the glass is a strong showing for a tapas spot — that's enough to work your way through a meal with different wines at each round, which is exactly how you're supposed to eat here. Glass prices run $8 to $14, which keeps experimentation affordable. No details on rotation frequency, but with dedicated deal nights built around specific bottles, there's at least some intentionality to the program.

On Thursday, Marqués de Cáceres pours at half price all day. It's a well-made, food-friendly Rioja at a price point that's already fair — at 50% off, it becomes one of the better wine deals in Kansas City, full stop.
Cava (by the glass)
Spanish Cava by the glass at a tapas bar is chronically underordered because people default to still wine. That's a mistake here — Cava alongside patatas bravas or jamón serrano is the right move, and at $8–$14 a pour, it's the most fun you'll have for the money.
Top-end bottles near the $80 ceiling
Without more transparency on what's sitting at the top of the price range, the safest play is to stay in the $30–$50 zone where the value is clear and the Monday half-price deal applies. Bottles pushing $80 at a casual tapas spot need to earn that price tag, and without producer details on the high end, the risk isn't worth it.
Marqués de Cáceres Rioja Blanco (white Rioja) + Gambas al ajillo
White Rioja — typically Viura-based, crisp, with a little texture — cuts through the garlic butter in gambas al ajillo without bullying the shrimp. It's the kind of pairing that makes you wonder why you don't drink more white Rioja.
