Forty-three labels in Overland Park is more than we expected, and the list reads like someone actually thought about it — not just grabbed whatever the distributor rep was pushing that month. There's a clear white-wine focus, with sparkling and rosé getting real shelf space, which we respect. It's approachable without being dumbed down.
The white wine lineup is genuinely the strength here: you've got August Kessler Riesling and Trimbach Gewurztraminer sitting alongside Pascal Jolivet Sancerre, which tells you someone has taste. The Chardonnay tier is almost comically thorough — Peirano Estate at $31 all the way up to Far Niente at $170 — giving you a genuine range rather than a forced choice. Rosé gets three options including Miraval and Whispering Angel, which is fine if predictable. The red side of the list isn't fully visible in our data, but the white and sparkling game is strong enough to carry the room.
Eighteen by-the-glass options is a real commitment, and at $8–$21 per pour there's room for both the budget-conscious and the Tuesday-night-treat crowd. Jolivet's Sancerre is a reliable, clean Loire Valley benchmark — crisp, mineral, genuinely food-friendly — and $50 is a fair ask in a restaurant setting where this bottle typically runs $65–$75. It's the kind of wine that makes you feel like you found something, even if it's right there on the menu.
August Kessler Riesling
Most tables in a Modern American spot walk right past the Riesling section, which is their loss. Kessler makes structured, dry-leaning German Riesling with serious acidity and minerality — exactly the kind of wine that handles a broad menu. At $38, it's a steal compared to the Chardonnays getting all the attention one section over.
Far Niente Chardonnay
Far Niente is a perfectly good Napa Chardonnay, but at $170 it's priced for the splurge crowd that wants a recognizable label, not for the wine itself. You're paying a heavy premium for the name, and the Patz and Hall or even Stag's Leap Karia delivers a comparable experience for significantly less. Save the $170 for a bottle of something with more personality.
Trimbach Gewurztraminer + Any roasted pork or charcuterie offering on the farmhouse menu
Trimbach's Gewurztraminer is one of Alsace's most reliable expressions of the grape — aromatic, dry-ish, with a spice note that loves cured and roasted pork. It's a classic match that most diners at a Modern Farmhouse spot would never think to order, but won't forget after they do.
