Wingman Metrics
Seven labels. That's it. At most restaurants, a list this short would be a red flag, but at Kindred Fare it reads more like a carefully edited playlist than a lazy afterthought. Every bottle seems to have earned its spot, and the lean toward Finger Lakes producers tells you exactly where this kitchen's loyalties lie.
The list is unapologetically regional — Sheldrake Point Cab Franc, Ravines Meritage, and Red Newt Cellars Cab Sauv anchor the local side, giving you a real cross-section of what the Finger Lakes does with cool-climate reds. Then it gets interesting: a Paul Jaboulet Aîné Hermitage La Chapelle sneaks in like a ringer, and a Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese from a Frank Schoonmaker selection nods to the Germanic heritage that shaped Finger Lakes winemaking in the first place. The Stag's Leap White Riesling feels slightly out of step with the rest of the curation, and with only seven bottles there are obvious gaps — no bubbles, no rosé we can confirm. But for a farm-to-table neighborhood spot in Geneva, this is a list with a point of view.
By-the-glass options aren't confirmed in any source we found, which is a real gap for a casual drop-in crowd. If you're coming here for wine, plan to commit to a bottle — the list is short enough that you can make the call quickly. The corkage policy (reportedly $15 for Finger Lakes wines, $20 for others) is a smart move that practically begs you to stop at one of the nearby FLX tasting rooms on your way in.
Sheldrake Point Cabernet Franc — null
Sheldrake Point is one of the Finger Lakes' most consistent producers and their Cab Franc is a genuine regional standout — earthy, bright, and food-friendly in a way that works hard across this menu. Buying it at a restaurant near the source means the markup has nowhere to hide, and from what we can tell, Kindred Fare keeps it honest.
Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese
Most tables will reach past this without a second look, especially next to the local bottles. That's a mistake. Wehlener Sonnenuhr is one of the Mosel's great vineyard sites, and a Spätlese has the sweetness-acid tension to cut right through the richness of rotisserie chicken or a butter-heavy pasta. It's also a quiet wink at the German winemaking influence that defines the Finger Lakes — a bit of context on the table.
Stag's Leap Wine Cellars White Riesling
Stag's Leap is Napa Cabernet country — their Riesling is fine but it feels like a filler pick that doesn't fit the narrative the rest of the list is building. With Finger Lakes Riesling practically growing outside the window, there's no reason to reach to California for this one.
Ravines Wine Cellars Meritage + Rotisserie Chicken
Ravines makes some of the most structured, food-serious reds in the Finger Lakes, and their Meritage has the backbone to stand up to the char and fat of a rotisserie bird without steamrolling the kitchen's seasonal touches. It's a local-meets-local moment that plays exactly to what Kindred Fare is trying to do.
🎲 The Bottom Line
Kindred Fare doesn't have the wine list to be your destination for a deep dive, but it has the conviction to make seven bottles feel like a statement. If you're eating in Geneva and care about drinking something that actually connects to where you are, this is your spot.
Downtown Geneva · Geneva · Wine Tasting Lounge
Trestle Thirty One is a legitimate reason to make the detour to Geneva — not just for wine tourists, but for anyone curious about what focused, single-estate winemaking looks like in the Finger Lakes. If you want range across regions, look elsewhere; if you want to understand one place deeply, this is your spot.

Ravines is the rare winery tasting experience that makes you forget you're on a tourism trail — the wines are too honest for that. If you're anywhere near the Finger Lakes and you skip this, you're doing it wrong.

This isn't a wine list review — it's a winery experience wearing a dinner jacket. If you're already sold on Ravines or want a focused deep-dive into what serious Finger Lakes wine can be, the Geneva barn delivers that with conviction. If you need optionality or outside references, you'll want to eat somewhere with a broader list.

This is a destination experience, not a restaurant wine list — but if you're making the drive to Seneca Lake anyway, an estate dinner at Fox Run is a genuinely satisfying way to drink through the lineup with food underneath it. Send a friend? Yes — but tell them to go for the Cab Franc.

This is what a winery restaurant should be: one producer, done exceptionally well, with food that gets out of the wine's way. If you're passing through the Finger Lakes and skip this, you made a mistake.

The Grove isn't a wine destination, but it's doing more with its list than most restaurants in East Texas dare to try — and Wine Wednesdays from 7 to 9 PM genuinely move the needle. Show up on a Wednesday, avoid the grocery-store bottles, and you'll leave happy.

Tolon is doing real wine work for a mid-sized Midwest city — the list has range, recognizable producers, and enough glass options to drink well without committing to a bottle. Watch the markup on the high end, but if you're eating here, the wine program is worth your attention.
