Fort Wayne's Quietly Serious Wine Program

Wingman Metrics
The list lands with more confidence than you'd expect from a restaurant in downtown Fort Wayne — 80-plus bottles, a real price range, and enough ambition to feature single-vineyard Napa Cab. It's not trying to be a wine bar, but it's clearly not an afterthought either. The farm-to-table framing gives the list a sense of purpose.
California dominates the conversation here, with Far Niente and Nickel & Nickel anchoring the premium end — names that signal the kitchen is cooking for a crowd willing to spend. The range runs from approachable $45 bottles up past $200, which gives the list some real verticality. That said, the regional focus skews predictably west coast, and adventurous drinkers looking for Burgundy, Rhône, or anything remotely natural will find slim pickings. It's a crowd-pleaser list done well, not an explorer's map.
Somewhere between 12 and 18 pours by the glass, which is a healthy program for a restaurant this size in this market. We'd love to see more rotation to match the seasonal menu changes, but the glass selection covers the bases. If you're here for a weeknight dinner and don't want to commit to a bottle, you're not stuck choosing between two sad options.
Far Niente Chardonnay — $45–$65 (glass/entry bottle estimate)
Far Niente Chardonnay at the lower end of the bottle range is one of the more recognizable names on the list and earns its reputation — rich but not overblown, and a natural match for Tolon's butter-forward seasonal cooking.
Nickel & Nickel Single-Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Most people at a farm-to-table spot in Indiana aren't expecting a serious single-vineyard Napa Cab on the list — which is exactly why you should order it. Nickel & Nickel farms each vineyard separately and the results show. Worth the splurge if you're splitting a steak.
Nickel & Nickel Single-Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon (at top tier pricing)
If the markup lands at four-plus times retail — which is a real risk at $200+ — you're paying a Fort Wayne premium for a bottle you could find at a well-stocked wine shop for half the price. Know what you're walking into before you commit.
Nickel & Nickel Single-Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon + Grilled pork chop with local seasonal sides
The structured tannins and dark fruit in the Nickel & Nickel cut through the richness of a well-seared pork chop while the oak plays nicely against any char from the grill. It's the kind of pairing that reminds you why Napa Cab became a dinner table institution.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Tolon is doing real wine work for a mid-sized Midwest city — the list has range, recognizable producers, and enough glass options to drink well without committing to a bottle. Watch the markup on the high end, but if you're eating here, the wine program is worth your attention.
Downtown-adjacent / Near West · Fort Wayne · Italian market and deli
Antonuccio's isn't a restaurant wine program — it's something more interesting: a genuine Italian market where you can eat well and leave with better bottles than most Fort Wayne restaurants will ever pour you. Come for lunch, leave with a Chianti, zero regrets.

Northwest (Jefferson Pointe / Illinois Rd corridor) · Fort Wayne · Upscale American Steakhouse
Eddie Merlot's Fort Wayne is a reliably well-run steakhouse wine program — proper storage, real glassware, a sommelier on the floor, and enough pours by the glass to satisfy a full table. The list won't challenge you, and the markups will sting, but if you want a classic California Cab with your prime beef and you want it done right, this place delivers.

Jefferson Pointe · Fort Wayne · American – Gourmet Burgers & Pub Fare
BRU Burger Bar is genuinely great at what it does — burgers, fries, a cold beer. The wine list exists as an afterthought for guests who don't drink beer, and it should be treated accordingly. Order a craft draft, save the wine for somewhere that cares.

Nawa is a fine place to eat; the wine list won't embarrass anyone, but it won't excite them either. Grab the Amarone or the Broquel Malbec, ignore the celebrity bottles, and let the food do the heavy lifting.

Henry's is a bar that happens to take its wine list seriously enough to matter, and the Wednesday half-price deal is the kind of thing you should have already texted your friends about. Don't overthink it — show up, order the Belleruche, and feel good about your Wednesday.

Vinland Reserve is the rare Indiana winery that earns a second look — barrel-aged hybrids, honest Bordeaux imports, and some of the most approachable pricing in the region. Wine Wednesday alone makes this worth adding to the rotation.
