Wingman Metrics
Walking into Grape Creek's Georgetown outpost, you immediately clock that this is not your typical wine list β it's essentially a curated showcase for the Heath Family Brands portfolio, and it wears that identity without apology. The setting helps: a renovated space in historic downtown Georgetown, courtyard adjacent, sitting across from the courthouse in one of Central Texas's most charming squares. The vibe is relaxed and welcoming, not intimidating, which is exactly what a Texas tasting room should be.
The list runs 30 to 60 wines deep, all staying within the Heath Family Brands universe β Grape Creek Vineyards, Invention Vineyards, Jenblossom Cellars, and Heath's sparkling program. If you came hoping to explore Burgundy or Barolo, wrong address. But if you want a genuine snapshot of what serious Texas winemaking looks like in 2024, this is a compelling argument. The range covers sparkling, whites like Viognier and Pinot Grigio, rosΓ©, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and the Bellissimo red blend β enough diversity to find something for any palate without the list sprawling into chaos. The 90+ point recognition on select bottles gives you a quick shortcut to what's performing best.
With 10 to 20 pours available by the glass, this is a solid program for solo sippers or groups that can't agree on a bottle. The glass list tracks the bottle lineup closely, which means you can work your way through the portfolio without committing to a full pour of something unfamiliar. Rotation doesn't appear particularly aggressive β this feels more like a stable, curated slate than a list that changes with the seasons.
Grape Creek RosΓ© β $28
At retail pricing with zero markup, this is the easiest win on the list. Texas rosΓ© punches above its weight in warm weather and at $28 a bottle you're not gambling anything.
Grape Creek Viognier
Viognier is Texas wine country's quiet overachiever β aromatic, food-friendly, and different enough to surprise the table. Most people reach for the Cab and miss it entirely. Don't be most people.
Grape Creek Bellissimo
At $40 it's priced at retail, so no markup crime here β but a no-vintage red blend is the least interesting thing on the list. Unless you already know and love it, your $40 explores more interesting territory elsewhere.
Grape Creek Cabernet Sauvignon Estate + Charcuterie board
Texas Cab needs something substantial to push against, and a well-loaded charcuterie board β cured meats, aged cheeses, some fruit β gives it exactly that. Classic pairing logic, and it works here.
π² The Bottom Line
Grape Creek Georgetown is a one-portfolio show, but when that portfolio is priced at retail and the setting is this good, that's not a complaint β it's a reason to go. If you want Texas wine without the drive to the Hill Country, this square is your shortcut.
Downtown Historic Square Β· Georgetown Β· Winery / Tasting Room
Georgetown Winery isn't trying to be a destination wine experience β it's a casual, zero-markup pit stop on the historic square where the drinks are honest and the prices are shockingly fair. Send a friend here if they want to relax with Texas wine without being lectured about it.

Golden Rule Annex is a cocktail bar that happens to have wine, and that's fine β especially when Friday and Saturday bring 50% off bottles. Don't come here expecting a deep list; do come here expecting a good time at a fair price.

Saltgrass Georgetown is not a wine destination β not even close β but it's one of the rare chain steakhouses where the wine program won't leave you feeling cheated. If you're here for the steak and want something decent in your glass at a fair price, you're covered.

Red Lobster's wine list is a corporate afterthought dressed in a laminated menu, and the Georgetown location is no exception. Order the Riesling, enjoy the biscuits, and save your wine curiosity for somewhere that shares it.

LongHorn Georgetown is a perfectly fine place to eat a steak; it is not a place to drink wine. The pricing is fair enough that you won't feel robbed, but the list is so narrow and uninspired that you'd be better off asking what's on draft.

We're not here to kick Olive Garden β the pasta is the point, and everyone knows it. But the wine program is pure corporate filler: overpriced grocery-store labels, no rotation, no effort. Order the frozen sangria and move on.
