Wingman Metrics
Five wines. That's the whole list. At a cocktail bar in a small Texas town, that's not necessarily a dealbreaker β but it does tell you exactly where wine stands in the pecking order here. The Annex is built for drinks and socializing, and the wine program exists to serve a crowd that wants a glass with dinner, not a rabbit hole of obscure RhΓ΄ne producers.
The list hits four continents in five bottles β New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, an Italian Pinot Grigio from the Veneto, a California Chardonnay out of Monterey, a Napa Cab, and a Chilean Pinot Noir from Colchagua Valley. It's a greatest-hits playlist, not a curated collection. Nothing here is going to surprise you, and nothing is going to embarrass you either. One notable quirk: several of these vintages are from 2010β2012, which raises an eyebrow β those are old wines for this category, and whether that reflects deep stock or slow turnover is hard to say.
Every bottle on the list is also available by the glass, which at five options total is about as straightforward as it gets. Prices run $9β$11 per glass, which is genuinely reasonable for the area. Rotation appears to be nonexistent β this list looks like it's been steady for a while.
Pinot Noir, Colchagua Valley, Chile 2012 β $9/glass
The lowest price on the list, and Chilean Pinot from Colchagua tends to punch above its weight β riper and more structured than you'd expect at this price point. On a Friday or Saturday, that glass drops even further with the 50% bottle discount applied.
Sauvignon Blanc, Waikato, New Zealand 2012
Waikato is a less-talked-about New Zealand region compared to Marlborough, which makes this slightly more interesting than the label suggests. Most people at a cocktail bar skip the white wine entirely β don't be that person.
Pinot Grigio, Veneto, Italy 2012
At $11/glass or $40/bottle, it's the priciest pour on a short list, and a decade-plus-old Veneto Pinot Grigio is not doing anyone any favors. This is a wine meant to be drunk young and fresh β that ship has sailed.
Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, California 2010 + Charcuterie board
A Napa Cab with age on it wants something with fat and salt. A charcuterie spread β cured meats, aged cheese, olives β gives it something to work with and makes both the wine and the snacks taste better than they would alone.
Friday and Saturday β 50% off any bottle of wine under $100 on Friday and Saturday nights.
π² The Bottom Line
Golden Rule Annex is a cocktail bar that happens to have wine, and that's fine β especially when Friday and Saturday bring 50% off bottles. Don't come here expecting a deep list; do come here expecting a good time at a fair price.
Downtown Historic Square Β· Georgetown Β· Winery / Tasting Room
Georgetown Winery isn't trying to be a destination wine experience β it's a casual, zero-markup pit stop on the historic square where the drinks are honest and the prices are shockingly fair. Send a friend here if they want to relax with Texas wine without being lectured about it.

Grape Creek Georgetown is a one-portfolio show, but when that portfolio is priced at retail and the setting is this good, that's not a complaint β it's a reason to go. If you want Texas wine without the drive to the Hill Country, this square is your shortcut.

Saltgrass Georgetown is not a wine destination β not even close β but it's one of the rare chain steakhouses where the wine program won't leave you feeling cheated. If you're here for the steak and want something decent in your glass at a fair price, you're covered.

Red Lobster's wine list is a corporate afterthought dressed in a laminated menu, and the Georgetown location is no exception. Order the Riesling, enjoy the biscuits, and save your wine curiosity for somewhere that shares it.

LongHorn Georgetown is a perfectly fine place to eat a steak; it is not a place to drink wine. The pricing is fair enough that you won't feel robbed, but the list is so narrow and uninspired that you'd be better off asking what's on draft.

We're not here to kick Olive Garden β the pasta is the point, and everyone knows it. But the wine program is pure corporate filler: overpriced grocery-store labels, no rotation, no effort. Order the frozen sangria and move on.
