Wingman Metrics
Walking into a strip mall seafood chain in Georgetown, Texas, you're not expecting much from the wine list β and then you clock the Monday half-price bottle deal and suddenly the whole calculus shifts. The list is short at 14 labels, all by the glass, which keeps things simple but leaves zero room for exploration. It's a practical list built for people who want a cold glass of white with their shrimp tacos, not a deep dive into terroir.
The list leans heavily on coastal-friendly whites, which makes sense given the Gulf Coast seafood focus β Oyster Bay Pinot Grigio, Rainstorm Pinot Gris from Oregon, Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc, and Sonoma-Cutrer Chardonnay cover the crowd-pleasing white bases pretty thoroughly. The Louis Jadot Chablis is the lone old-world outlier and easily the most interesting bottle on the menu. On the red side, Angeline and the Bezel by Cakebread Cabernet Sauvignon round things out for guests who insist on red with fish, which, hey, no judgment. Burgundy, New Zealand, Oregon, and California all show up, but the list stops well short of anything adventurous β this is a greatest-hits compilation, not a curated selection.
Every single wine on the list is available by the glass, starting at $5, which is genuinely refreshing for a casual spot β no bottle minimums, no awkward half-pours. The selection of 14 by-the-glass options covers whites and reds with reasonable variety for the format. What's missing is any rotation or seasonal program to speak of; what you see is what you get.
Rainstorm Pinot Gris β $5+
Oregon Pinot Gris at a Gulf Coast seafood joint is an underrated call β the slightly richer, rounder profile compared to Italian Pinot Grigio holds up against fried and blackened dishes. If bottles are included in Monday's half-price deal, this becomes a no-brainer order.
Louis Jadot Chablis
Most people at Fish City Grill are reaching for the Kim Crawford or the Sonoma-Cutrer without a second thought. The Louis Jadot Chablis is the only bottle here with real acid, minerality, and a French pedigree β it's practically built to drink alongside oysters and gets consistently overlooked in this kind of setting.
Josh Cellars Chardonnay
It's fine. It's everywhere. You can buy it at any grocery store for $13, so whatever restaurant markup is applied here means you're paying a premium for something with zero scarcity or excitement. Grab the Sonoma-Cutrer if you want California Chardonnay, or better yet, the Chablis.
Louis Jadot Chablis + Oyster Nachos
Chablis and oysters is one of the most reliable combinations in the book β the wine's citrus-driven acidity and flinty minerality cut right through the richness of the nachos toppings while amplifying the brininess of the oysters themselves. It's the most classically correct glass pour on this entire list.
Monday β Half-price bottles of wine on Mondays. Specific bottles included in the promotion are not listed publicly β ask your server when you arrive.
π² The Bottom Line
Fish City Grill isn't a wine destination, but Monday half-price bottles and a Louis Jadot Chablis hiding in plain sight make it punching above its weight class for a strip mall chain. Come for the oyster nachos, order the Chablis, and don't sleep on Mondays.
Georgetown Β· Georgetown Β· Tex-Mex
Dos Salsas is a genuinely fun Tex-Mex spot, and we'd happily eat here β but we're ordering the frozen margarita, not opening the wine list. The pricing is fair enough that it won't hurt you, but the selection won't excite you either.

Georgetown Winery isn't trying to be a destination wine experience β it's a casual, zero-markup pit stop on the historic square where the drinks are honest and the prices are shockingly fair. Send a friend here if they want to relax with Texas wine without being lectured about it.

Grape Creek Georgetown is a one-portfolio show, but when that portfolio is priced at retail and the setting is this good, that's not a complaint β it's a reason to go. If you want Texas wine without the drive to the Hill Country, this square is your shortcut.

Golden Rule Annex is a cocktail bar that happens to have wine, and that's fine β especially when Friday and Saturday bring 50% off bottles. Don't come here expecting a deep list; do come here expecting a good time at a fair price.

Saltgrass Georgetown is not a wine destination β not even close β but it's one of the rare chain steakhouses where the wine program won't leave you feeling cheated. If you're here for the steak and want something decent in your glass at a fair price, you're covered.
