Walking into Cielo feels like a deliberate exhale from the casino floor — the lounge lighting is easy, the vibe is grown-up, and the wine list lands in front of you looking like someone put in just enough effort. It's the kind of list that wants to impress tourists without scaring them, which means it largely succeeds on its own modest terms.
The list leans Italian with a California safety net underneath — you've got Banfi Chianti Classico and Cesari Amarone representing Tuscany and the Veneto, while Predator Zinfandel and Black Stallion Petit Verdot fly the California flag. La Quercia Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is a decent nod toward southern Italy, and the M. Chapoutier Belleruche Rosé gives the Rhône a seat at the table. What's missing is depth — there's no real exploration of Piedmont, no Barolo or Barbaresco, and the Italian-first concept doesn't fully commit on the bottle list.
The by-the-glass menu runs a $10–$30 range, which is fair for an Atlantic City casino property where the house always takes its cut. Maschio Prosecco and J.P. Chenet Blanc de Blanc anchor the lighter end, while Inscription Pinot Noir handles the red side of things — a serviceable pour but nothing that's going to make you put your phone down. Rotation doesn't appear to be aggressive, so what you see is largely what you get.
La Quercia Montepulciano d'Abruzzo — $10
If it's hitting the lower end of the glass pour range, this is the move. Montepulciano d'Abruzzo punches above its weight class — dark fruit, decent structure, no pretension — and it's the most honest Italian expression on the list.
Cesari Amarone della Valpolicella
Most people at a casino wine bar are not ordering Amarone, and that's their loss. Cesari is a reliable Valpolicella producer and Amarone is the kind of big, concentrated red that actually benefits from being sipped slowly over conversation — exactly what this lounge setting is built for.
J.P. Chenet Blanc de Blanc
J.P. Chenet is a mass-market French brand that moves units at grocery stores, not wine bars. At casino markup, you're paying a premium for something that costs about $8 retail. Order the Maschio Prosecco instead and keep the change.
Banfi Chianti Classico + Margherita Pizza
Chianti Classico and pizza is not a revelation, but it's not supposed to be — it's a pairing that's worked for centuries because the bright Sangiovese acidity cuts through tomato and cheese without competing with them. Banfi is reliable, and this is exactly the kind of no-drama combination that makes a casino night easy.

Cielo is a decent enough wine stop if you need a break from the slot machines and want something that feels like an actual wine bar. The list plays it safe and the markups are what they are — but for the Boardwalk, it clears the bar.
