Walking into a wine list in College Station, Texas, you brace yourself for a Kendall-Jackson wall and a prayer. Christopher's World Grille surprises — 62 labels, a real Champagne program, and actual French Burgundy on the menu. For a college town, this is punching well above its weight class.
The list is anchored by a strong sparkling and Champagne section that runs from a $40 Poema Cava all the way up to Dom Pérignon 2015 at $550 and Louis Roederer Cristal 2013 at $500 — unusual ambition for this market. The white wine program leans heavily on Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, with some genuine French depth: Barton & Guestier Sancerre 2023, Moillard Chablis Coquillage 2023, and Vincent Girardin Pouilly-Fuissé 2021 all make appearances. The Burgundy representation is thin but meaningful — Les Charmes Mâcon-Lugny 2023 at $50 slots in as an accessible entry point. Red and other categories appear to exist per the region data but weren't fully surfaced in available list data, which keeps this from feeling truly comprehensive.
Twelve by-the-glass options at $11–$17 is a respectable program for a restaurant of this size and market. The range appears to cover the main bases — sparkling, white, and red — without the kind of thoughtful rotation that would make this truly exciting. It's functional, not inspiring.
Les Charmes Mâcon-Lugny 2023 — $50
Southern Burgundy Chardonnay at $50 is a real find. Mâcon-Lugny is consistently clean, food-friendly white Burgundy that routinely gets overlooked in favor of flashier California bottles. At this price, it's the smartest white on the list.
Borgoluce Prosecco 'Lampo' Brut
Most people reaching for bubbles here will default to Moët or Veuve. Borgoluce's 'Lampo' is a proper estate Prosecco from the Conegliano Valdobbiadene hills — a step above the usual cooperative stuff, at $55 it's the sparkling pick for anyone who actually cares what's in their glass.
Cakebread Chardonnay 2023
At $105 a bottle, you're paying heavy restaurant markup on a wine that retails around $45. Cakebread is reliably decent but not remotely interesting at twice the price — the Vincent Girardin Pouilly-Fuissé 2021 at $85 drinks circles around it and at least has some terroir to talk about.
Barton & Guestier Sancerre 2023 + Grilled seafood or fish entrée
Sancerre at $75 is this list's natural home for anything coming off the grill with a light hand. The Loire's signature bright acidity and subtle herbaceous edge cuts through butter, brightens citrus preparations, and keeps the palate fresh across a whole plate of delicate protein.
The Bottom Line
Christopher's is doing real wine work in a market that rarely demands it — the Champagne program alone earns respect, even if the markups take some of the shine off. If you're eating in College Station and want an actual bottle with dinner, this is where you come.

Campfire's wine list is the vinous equivalent of a hotel fitness center — technically present, clearly an afterthought. Order the cocktails, or bring your own bottle and ask about corkage.

Saltgrass College Station is not a wine destination, but it's not a wine disaster either — the by-the-glass count is high, the bottom of the list is accessible, and if you pick smart you'll drink fine. Just don't expect to be surprised.

12 Rooftop Bar is a great place to watch the sunset and drink something cold — but if wine is your reason for coming, you're going to be disappointed. Order a cocktail, enjoy the view, and save the wine night for somewhere else.

J. Cody's is clearly here for the meat, not the wine — and honestly, that's fine, but at least price the bottles fairly if you're going to phone it in. Order a Shiner Bock, eat the brisket, and save your wine curiosity for somewhere that returns the favor.
