Come for the Beer, Skip the Wine

The wine list at BJ's Pensacola is exactly what you'd expect from a chain brewhouse — an afterthought. Two by-the-glass options at $6 a pour, and the bottle list reads like the supermarket shelf you walked past on the way to the craft beer aisle.
California is the only region in play here, and the producers on offer tell you everything you need to know about the ambition level. Dark Horse is a mass-market label built for volume, not for anyone actually thinking about what's in their glass. There are no small producers, no interesting appellations, no Old World options, and no reason to dig deeper into the list. If you came hoping to find a Willamette Pinot hiding somewhere on page two, there is no page two.
Two options. That's it. Dark Horse Cabernet Sauvignon and Dark Horse Chardonnay at $6 a glass, which is at least priced honestly for what it is. There's no rotation, no seasonal pour, no attempt to keep things interesting.
Dark Horse Cabernet Sauvignon — $6/glass
At $6, you're not getting anything revelatory, but on a Tuesday when bottles are half-off with a $5 Pizookie, the math suddenly makes this the only defensible wine order in the building.
Dark Horse Chardonnay
Most people at a brewhouse default to the Cab without a second thought. The Chardonnay is equally unremarkable, but if you're eating the deep dish pizza and want something that doesn't fight the richness, this is the slightly more interesting call — which admittedly is a low bar.
Dark Horse Cabernet Sauvignon
At full price off the bottle list, you're paying restaurant markup on a wine that retails for around $8 at the grocery store. The Tuesday deal saves it; any other night, order a craft beer.
Dark Horse Chardonnay + Chicago-Style Deep Dish Pizza
The Chardonnay's soft, round profile doesn't fight the buttery crust and tomato sauce the way a tannic red would. It's not a sophisticated pairing — it's damage control, and it works.
Tuesday — Half-off bottles of wine with a $5 Pizookie
❌ The Bottom Line
BJ's is a brewhouse, and the wine list is there to check a box, not to impress anyone. Come on a Tuesday for the half-price bottles with a Pizookie, otherwise point yourself at the tap list where this place actually shines.
Downtown · Pensacola · Gastropub / Cocktail & Wine Bar
The Burrow is a Wild Card because the wine list itself is flawed — anchored by overpriced grocery-store bottles at full price — but the weekly deal structure genuinely rescues it. Hit it on Tuesday for half-price bottles or Friday for the tasting flight, and you're having a good night in Pensacola for very little money.

Skopelos at New World is doing more with wine than any other white-tablecloth spot on the Pensacola waterfront, and the Greek wine section alone earns it a second look. Markups keep it from being a true destination for wine lovers, but as a reliable partner to a legitimately good dinner, it delivers.

Seville Historic District · Pensacola · Upscale Steakhouse & Seafood
The District is a reliable steakhouse wine list in a market that doesn't have a ton of competition — it gets the job done, leans hard on Napa names people trust, and charges for the privilege. Send a friend here for the steak and the Gulf seafood; just go in knowing you're paying restaurant prices for wines you could identify from across the room.

El Coqui isn't trying to be a wine destination — it's a neighborhood tapas spot with a list that actually thinks about what you're eating. That's more than most places in this category bother to do, and it earns a genuine recommendation.

Angelena's isn't trying to be a wine destination, but it's doing more than the room requires — fair prices, real Italian producers, and a list that rewards the curious diner who looks past the Pinot Grigio. Send a friend here for the Tuesday wine special and the Nero d'Avola.

Fisherman's Corner is a genuine wild card: a Gulf Coast shack that takes California wine seriously enough to earn a decade-plus of Wine Spectator recognition. The markups could be kinder and the list could use some personality beyond Napa, but Wednesday half-price night and a waterfront sunset make a strong argument for showing up anyway.

RH Rooftop is a great place to drink wine you already know in a room that photographs extremely well — just don't come expecting to discover anything. If you're a guest who wants reliability and a gorgeous sunset view, this delivers; if you're chasing depth or value, this list isn't going to find you.

Table 26 punches above its neighborhood weight with a list that has real ambition and a happy hour program that's one of the best deals in South Florida. The markup on the trophy tier is aggressive, but if you drink smart — and especially if you show up before 6 PM — this place absolutely delivers.

Henry's isn't a wine destination, but it's not pretending to be one either — the list is familiar, the markups are fairer than you'd expect from a Breakers property, and the flight program gives you a reason to explore. Send your friends here for dinner without worrying they'll get gouged on wine.
